Corazon Mexican Food — Restaurant in Sunnyvale

Hands down WORST customer service in Sunnyvale. We’ve been going to this place since they first opened, always the same woman at the register, just like today. My daughter had a 2 hour doctor appointment and I wanted to give her something nice before that, so we went to Corazon for lunch. We arrived early, a full hour before the appointment. And she was hungry, ready to eat. We waited longer than normal, and after 30 minutes I went to ask if the food would be ready soon. The woman told me in five minutes. I go back to our table and wait more than ten minutes -now a total of 45 mins and getting very close to the appointment time- and go to ask again. At this point I just wanted to get food in my daughter’s empty stomach before her long appointment, and give her enough time to eat. But when I asked the second time, the woman interrupted me yelling that she can give me a refund “right now.” I said I don’t want a refund, I just need the food. (By that point we didn't have enough time to get food elsewhere.) This went back and forth, her yelling about giving me my money, me saying I didn’t ask for that, I was just asking about the food, etc. I tried to explain -through her screaming- that I just need to feed my kid before a two hour appointment. Finally she says ok I’ll give you your food (it was sitting on the counter the whole time that she was yelling about my refund.) When I went to take the food I said to her that she was really disrespectful. She looked at me, smiled, and said “de nada.” (You’re welcome). I feel sorry for businesses that are hurting in covid times, but honestly today I feel more sorry for that miserable woman who thought her behavior was ok. She has a lot of growing up to do. But she won’t get our business in the meantime. Highly recommend to support other local businesses that truly deserve...

After reading all the reviews on here and on Nextdoor, I was really excited to try this place. But left feeling that it was simply "okay".

Despite there being only one other couple in the restaurant my girlfriend and I were not acknowledged upon entry or while looking through the menu. We each ordered a burrito and and I ordered water. The water was self-serve but they were out of cups, the employee asked me to take a small stack of cups to the water station for him. Not really a huge deal, just a little odd since aside from the other couple waiting for their food, we were the only ones there. I honestly would not even include the previous 2 nitpicks had the food really wowed me.

As for the food, I will start with my girlfriends burrito. The tortilla was burned and flacky/black. She said the flavor of the insides were good. But she was put off by the burned small and having to pull off the black parts.

I ordered a super burrito with carnitas. The meat was excellent, but the sour cream, guac, and salsa fresca was cold inside the burrito, giving it a weird feeling in my mouth (the contrast between warm meat and rice, vs the cold guac and others).

We also waited about 10 mins for this food, which definitely felt long considering the place was nearly empty and the meal does not come with chips to eat while we waited (we were dining in)

I think this place could be really good, it has a good foundation but there are some improvements needed. I think I will come back in a year or two when all of the growing pains have been worked out and they have sorted...

WOOO corazon packs some heat🔥. We walked in and it had such a cute vibe with some games to the side and nice decor all over. I decided to start off with a horchata since it was a hot day and I’m glad I did. I saw him make the horchata fresh and it tasted amazing. There was a lot of cinnamon so if that is not your thing then don’t get it, however I loved it. It had a very authentic flavor and it was a generous portion. Super cinnamony ans sweet. Then I got the tacos next which were BOMBB. The chicken oaxaco was so flavorful and was so tender. With the salsas and lime on top cutting the fattiness of the cheese it was perfect. The shredded beef was also so tasty. I love how everything was so fresh but it still came out very fast. Then came out the main huge dish….. THE STEAK SUPER NACHOS. They were so good. A hefty portion for the price and so tasty. The steak was tender and was medium rare. There was not too much cheese on the nachos so the flavor wasn’t completely just cheese which can happen sometimes. The attention to detail for the amount of salsa and everything placed on the nachos was amazing. HELLA CREAMY AND TASTY! The prices weren’t also too crazy for the portions.
