Past Wednesday around 9:20pm (almost closing time) I was with my boyfriend at this Marshall’s getting a dress and other things we needed. We were paying on different registers when I overheard employee PRAGYA asking my boyfriend for his ID. I sure thought it was weird until I saw him putting down his Social Security Number on the Pin Pad. I asked him if he was opening a credit card (non-likely) and he said NO, why?. Thanks God I stopped him right there.

This lady LIED to him and tried to take advantage of him as he speaks basic English, into signing up for a Marshall’s Credit Card WITHOUT his consent. She keep saying and speaking over me saying it was JUST a “Rewards Card”. Some other lady got involved and said it’s a rewards card because you get points when you use it. She told her “You need to let people know what is this about before you sign them up”. However, I truly believe Pragya knew exactly what she was doing. She must have a regular credit card herself and must be aware of how they work as she was no young woman.

Fellow reader, if someone is asking you for your Social Security number immediately suspect as they would not need it if it’s not going to affect your credit. Even if it’s the last four, this WILL affect your credit.

And Pragya, if you ever happen to read this I want you know that I wouldn’t be leaving such a detailed review if you would have acknowledged that you were indeed trying to trick my boyfriend into getting a credit card. Your dishonesty and lack of ethic is outrageous. There’s no need to ruin a 23 year old’s credit for a $15-$20 commission. Do better as an employee and...

Today around 4PM, I experienced racial profiling, harassment, and public humiliation at this Marshall’s location. My friend and I had just entered the store and went to the beauty section to look for fragrance oils. Almost immediately, a staff member came up to us and said, “None of the fragrances are testers.” We responded politely, acknowledging that we understood and had no intention of opening anything.

Less than 5 minutes later, while we were simply browsing, the same employee (Martha M) came back again, stood in our faces with arms crossed, and accused us of spraying products. When we said we hadn’t, she insisted we had — saying, “because you smell good.” This was deeply humiliating, especially as there were other shoppers of different ethnicities in the area who were not approached or singled out. I strongly felt we were targeted because we are Black.

This type of behavior is unacceptable and must be addressed by management. No customer should be made to feel disrespected, profiled, or harassed...

Customers have to be very careful when they buy at Marshalls particularly the one at Sawgrass; because if by mistake you've selected a wrong size item and come back later to exchange it for another size, managers look at you from the top to the bottom and tell you that you have to pay extra if you want to exchange the item, because it's another day. I've been working in retails for years, that's the first time I've heard something like that. A judgemental manager like Dana shouldn't be at Sawgrass where Marshalls has one of its big stores and where thousands of customers walk in and out every day to purchase their goods.
