I ordered a book online on Monday 01/27/2020. I made sure it was not back ordered and paid for 2 day shipping. That would put it here on Wednesday 01/29/2020. However, not one person contacted me telling me that even though it was available when i purchased it, somehow it went on backorder. Needless to say that I paid for expedited shipping because I would be flying out of town on business this week and not one person reached out to inform me. However I did receive countless emails about solicitations. When I called customer service, Ciera answered the phone. I explained to her that I was upset after she told me it was on back order and it had not even shipped out. This was today Friday. I asked her to reimburse me for the shipping. She told me she could not do so. Out of pure frustration i told her to cancel the order. After about 5 seconds i said let me speak to a manager. She told me she had already canceled the order. Places me on hold for a few minutes. I hang up and call back and ask to speak to a manager and i am transferred to Ciera again. I told her i just spoke to her and asked her for a manager. She replies telling me that she was consulting another manager and asked me what I would like her to do? After spending more then 20 minutes trying to get this issue resolved, and the level of incompetence I just decided to write a bad review. I stated several times that I wanted to be reimbursed for my shipping. At this point I will continue to shop at Barnes and Noble. Ciera’s indifference to the situation made me feel as if I did not matter whatsoever, and her nonchalant concern with the situation really resinated with me as to what...
Read moreYou don't see too many brick and mortar book stores around anymore which is why I am glad that Books-A-Million has been able to hang in there at the Sawgrass Mills Mall. Books-A-Million has a long history going all the way back to 1917 in Florence, Alabama, when 14 year old Clyde W. Anderson began a news stand business to support his family after the death of his father. From these humble beginnings Clyde's son, Charles C. Anderson expanded the books store left to him by his father into a chain of stores. Today they are the second largest chain of book stores in the U.S. operating close to 300 stores in more than 30 state.
Books-A-Million is bright and inviting. They have a large selection of books from classics to the latest bestseller and periodicals but they also sell games, greeting cards, toys, T-shirts, collectibles, candy, house hold goods, collectibles, and more. I especially love their Florida section.
This is the kind of store where it is easy to find a gift for that hard to shop for person. I have purchased a lot of presents here through the years as well as the latest beach book. I always discover something unique whenever I stop in. You can order books online but there is something so satisfying about going into a bookstore and holding the books in your hands as you make your decision. That is why this is always a top stop in the...
Read moreSo I get to the register with two items which totals up to approximately $15 & change. I’m checking out and the cashier ask if I have a membership, I respond”no I don’t” and she proceeds to tell me that the membership is $20 and I will get a $10 gift card back right there. I accept then I cash out. It’s after I cash out. She mentions that the $20 is only contingent to an automatic renewal not a one time fee (I barely come here). Which at this time I wasn’t happy because she waited until after the sale was done with that information, so asked can you cancel the membership, then. Telling me after the purchase is underhanded. She said she can only cancel the sale not the membership and I won’t get no refund. She says to have it as a one time membership gift card I’m going to receive is only five dollars instead of 10. Mind you the transaction already went through on Apple Pay. So she didn’t hand me the membership and gift card( which is a printed out regular card that she writes the dollar amount on which expires within 30 days). So now I’m mad and I have to go so I leave. As I’m getting in the car go away I see the total is 39.39 which also means that the membership was not just 20 it was $25. Smh but I had to go cause I’ll be late...
