We have been to this location many times but it has been a few years since our last visit. We were highly disappointed. We made reservations for 5;15 and arrived on time. We were not seated until almost 5:45. In looking through the restaurant it was mostly empty with dozens of tables open. Myself and another couple asked for a manager. We got two. One of the managers was more interested in accusing me of screaming and yelling at his hostess than addressing the problem. I feel sorry for people that don't understand the difference between raising your voice and screaming and yelling. He actually pissed me off so bad I did start yelling at him. I had to really hold myself back because you made me so angry. To the regional management this guy needs to be replaced he has no concept of the customers first whatsoever and does nothing to help any situation. Another manager was also there and told that manager to leave and tried to make me understand that they were short-staffed because of the death. I'm sorry but even though there was a death that should only affect one of their stuff, and if one of their staff affected them so much that they were behind by 30 plus minutes then they really didn't have your schedule properly done. This is on New Year's Day so I would expect to have a lot of customers on that day. When we finally did get seated we had a very friendly waitress but she was obviously not healthy or well. She was walking very slowly with a limp. My kids compared her to the sloth on the wall behind us. Even though we were just some of the few customers in the restaurant The food service was extremely slow. My kids and I were starving and we didn't get our appetizer till almost 6:20 p.m. by this time it's a full hour after our reservation time. The food was actually good and the portions were plentiful. From the perspective of the price we got a good deal and a good value for our money. But the overall experience was just horrible. I think Landry's is now the owner of a lot of these restaurants, please send somebody to investigate this restaurant especially the management. In my experience the restaurant runs like the managers do end of this restaurant is run that poorly that their understaffed on one of the busiest days of the year I can't imagine all the other things wrong. By the way several of the people that had reservations before this left and went to eat elsewhere. So this restaurant lost a lot of business and pissed off a lot of customers that day including us. We did however find a really good deal in their shop when we were done which my...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would! I had never left a review on any restaurant before, but this time my experience at the Rainforest Café was so bad that I feel obligated to leave a review. For starters, this was not my first time at this restaurant, I had been here 2 times before and never had the experience I had today, to the point I don’t plan to come back. We traveled for almost an hour to get to the restaurant just because we liked the ambiance and the food and my daughter was really excited to see all the animals. When we got to the restaurant we had to wait for 1 hour in order to be seated. When we received our message saying the table was ready, they still told us we had to wait some more. To this I want to add, there were many empty tables! Once we were seated there was no server or hostess that tended to us. After 15 minutes of waiting for a server we had to ask one that passed by to see if he could tend to us since my daughter was thirsty and we didn’t even have water in our table. After they gave us our drinks it took around 30 minutes or more to be able to order our food and then we had to wait another 40 minutes or so to receive the food in our table. Our daughter was starving! I had to ask if they could please bring her food out first since it was only chicken nuggets and still they brought our food first and then hers! I always ask for dessert, this time I didn’t even bother to, I wanted to get out of there because I had never felt so ignored in a restaurant before. Cheaper restaurants have treated us better. The ambiance and the animal may be cute and all but when you are faced with such bad customer service all of that goes out the door, you don’t even care about the ambiance anymore! You just want to get out of there! This restaurant is not the cheapest, the least they could do is have good customer service. Lastly, it took forever to pay and get our change back. I just wanted to get out of there! Won’t be coming back! What should have been a nice experience with my husband and daughter turned into a frustrating evening due to the horrible customer service and wait time....
Read moreWe were extremely disappointed with the experience at the restaurant we chose to celebrate our daughter's birthday at. We had high hopes for a memorable meal, but sadly, it turned into a frustrating and underwhelming outing.
First, the food was subpar at best. Dishes arrived lukewarm and lacked the flavor and quality we were expecting. It was clear that the kitchen was not putting effort into even the most basic of preparations. Some of the items we ordered seemed to have been sitting out too long under a heat lamp and the taste was bland and uninspired. The pasta I received was hard and the sauce was dry, as if the heat lamp kept cooking it while waiting for other meals to be prepared. My husband even pointed out that my plate was hotter than his actual food was.
The service was equally frustrating. Despite the restaurant not being overly crowded, it took an absurdly long time to receive our food. There were, at most 4-5 other families there while we were there at 7pm. The staff, while polite, seemed disconnected, which only added to our frustration. We were left wondering if anyone was actually paying attention to the needs of their customers.
What made the situation even worse was the lack of acknowledgment from the management. No one checked in on us throughout the meal. As a Landry's club member, I usually get greeted by the manager when I go to a Landry's restaurant. The waitress, however, didn't even ask if I was a Landry's club member and I had to ask if she would like my phone number to look up my account.
This experience was a huge letdown, especially for our daughter's birthday. What was supposed to be a celebration turned into a stressful and disappointing evening. We sat around waiting for all 2 employees to come out and bring my family the cake I ordered, something I asked about as soon as we got there. It got so late my daughter started to get cranky and by the time the cake came, she didn't even want it anymore. I can't in good conscience recommend this...
