This is a must read before trusting Mullen Jewelers.
My wife and I purchased a diamond jacket, (enhancer) for her engagement ring from Mullen. After a little over a year the ring jacket snapped at a gold joint. Mullen took the ring back to return it to the manufacturer for repair and then Mullen would reattach the ring jacket back to the engagement ring.
However, their original talanted jeweler was since replaced and the new jeweler did a terrible job reattaching the ring back together. They said, the way we wanted it attached, basically clean and smooth, was not possible.
Then in less than a year the ring snapped again in the same place. Mullen told us there was nothing that could be done because it was no longer warrantied except to trade it in at a substantially lower value towards a different jacket purchase. Of course, as with all jewelry, the value of our diamonds was substantially less then our recent purchase price.
Funny how jewelers talk of investment in diamond jewelry until you want to sell it and then magically the diamonds are worth pennies on the dollar. Speaks volumes to consider manufactured diamonds.
Anyway, we refused to take their regrets and excuses as our final recourse. So we went to another jeweler who without even a purchase or sale, contacted the manufacturer, and low and behold, they warrantied the ring with a replacement identical ring.
On top of that, the new jeweler also reattached the ring beautifully, as we requested, without issue. Which we were told was not possible at Mullen with their poorly talanted jeweler.
Mullen Jewelers basically lied to us at every visit with excuse after excuse, trying to convince us to upgrade with a new ring from them.
If they did this to us what will...
Read moreCan’t recommend Mullen Brothers enough. The place and staff were great. I went in with what I thought was a worthless fake diamond ring from my great-grandmother, but after speaking to Susan, the master goldsmith, quickly realized the diamond was in fact real, and perfect for my girlfriend’s engagement ring. Susan inspected the diamond and gave me an estimate on the size, quality and value of it. Then the salesperson, Lynn, worked with me looking at bands, trying to find one that was within my price range while also fitting the style I was looking for. She listened to what I was looking for, and answered all my questions and overall was just very helpful. I walked in not knowing much about engagement rings or the diamond I had in my possession, but with the help from Susan and Lynn I felt very confident I got the right ring for my girlfriend. Susan is currently working on my new band with my old diamond, creating my engagement ring, all in house. They have great reviews online, and I honestly can say they surpassed my expectations, this is an easy 5 star review. If you’re like me and feel a little lost when it comes to all the styles, sizes, and designs then you should check out Mullen Brothers. Lynn and Susan were so personable, knowledgeable and easy to talk to, never pressuring me. They listened to me and then gave suggests that met my needs and were just fantastic to work with. I will update my review once I receive the finished ring but based off my first visit I expect the finished product will also be a 5 out of 5. Thanks to Susan and Lynn again, I can’t thank you two enough for the wonderful...
Read moreEDIT 10/29/24: Added a star to my original review due to the detailed and understanding response from the owner Bob. I appreciate his candor and understanding while providing additional clarity. While my experience lacked transparency, it is lovely to see a caring response from a business these days - thanks Bob.
10/28/24: Most likely will not be coming back, found the clarity and lack of transparency around their repair service to be lacking.
I dropped off a ring to get a tiny diamond replaced (cluster ring), about $200 which was fine along with some other items for repair. After mentioning it was an heirloom and old, we spent 45 minutes inspecting and entering everything into the system - I believe that they were checking to make sure nothing else need work. Why else would it take 45 minutes??
I wore it to a work conference and lost another stone within 2 weeks. I bring it by today and they tell me it needs ALL 36 prongs repaired plus another new stone for $1000. They didn’t tell me any of this when I dropped it off the first time and when I asked the woman that I spoke too said it was probably because they didn’t want to give me sticker shock and just looked at replacing the diamond.
I found this lack of transparency really off putting. I wouldn’t have worn it knowing it was in such a precarious position. Now, I have to take this item and the other items I had repaired to another jeweler to make sure that they have been repaired to a...
