Can't comment on anything but their vinyl selection and my rating is based on that alone. Prices are VERY high here. Shopped at record stores from portland, Oregon to Miami, Florida and this is among the highest priced. Also, the biggest downer is the selection. It's almost like the buyer is bringing in non key releases to save some money or something. An example is that they have quite a few artists I own and would buy (megadeth, type o negative, Devin the dude, public enemy, Waylon Jennings, black sabbath, etc.) But instead of having key releases (ie: rust in pieces, bloddy kisses, just tryin to live, apocalypse 91, etc.) They had live albums, b-sides and stuff a normal shopper wouldn't want. For example, the only sabbath was technical ecstasy which is regarded by many as one of their worst releases AND you'll be hard pressed to leave with any of that for less than $30.
It's rare that I go into a shop and dont find at least one disc I want and this store was just that. Most of this stores new top 40 vinyl can be had up the street at Wally world for at least 25% less. THEY off all places even had Hall & Oates: rock n roll vol1 on the shelf AND for $16. This joint had some obscure H&O with a bunch of lesser known tracks.
A lady was in there just now asking about Ozzy's no more tears LP and this young man with super long blonde hair just looked at her blank faced and asked her if she knew what the cover looked like....lol, hilarious! That's one is his best selling solo albums.
Seriously, get a new buyer... and if the owner is the buyer... just stop, and hire someone.
My wife went last week and told me this spot was whack, I had to find out for myself and look, I HATE TO SAY THIS but just go buy from discogs unless you're just bored, wanting...
Read moreVery shady business indeed! Went there to sell some records. It was maybe 20 well known vinyl...Steely Dan, Pink Floyd...not any obscure artist or anything. First the lady at the counter asks as she flips through them, "What's the story with these albums? They seem kinda scratched?" Now, I bought a Lee Michael's used album in this exact store with a VG+ rating a month ago that was in worse condition than any of my albums (including the condition of the covers). So she says she has to get a manager. A man in his 40's pretending to be in his 20s walks up and says they can take them and to ring me up. The lady then proceeds to tell me once they clean the records they will offer me a price, which I must accept? I ask her well what if the price you offer isn't what I'd be willing to part with the record? Then, mid-life crisis walks back over and says with the time and energy it takes to clean them we can only accept if you agree to these terms...when I was doubtful he says it seems you're too attached to sell these records. First off, my son could look up the rough value of those 20 records in less than 20 minutes...it's 2021 and we have the internet. Secondly, did you ever think hey we don't have to clean them prior to buying them? And lastly, if you are unattached to your records...please give them to the Good Will vs these scammers! Please anyone and everyone stay away from this store. Different stories of shady business practices and overpriced...
Read moreI stayed at a cabin just outside of Sylva, and did a day in downtown (Sylva is rather lovely btw). I stumbled on this place walking about downtown. As a record fiend, I had to check it out. Found some great (and hard to find) records. The staff was really quite lovely. When I went to check out the two guys that worked there kind of stopped and reflected over what I picked out and talked them over with me. I could tell they actually love vinyl & music and digest a wide variety… Just a really friendly & chill vibe. They also have some music equipment, band tees, cds and a small selection of movies. If I had one minor criticism, I’d say some of their used records were a tad expensive, though admittedly I’m not a professional record grader. That said, I ended up going twice during my stay. Picked up NIN - Quake, a used Dillinger Escape Plan (that was pretty rare #copied etc), a King Gizz live booty, Fallen Angels (obscure psych rock), and a London Suede Live double album that seemed to be pretty hard to find as per a quick internet search (also found it interesting it was listed under Suede and not...
