A lot of excellent choices here and everything came out exactly as expected. My kids had quiche and a waffle. The quiche was declared to be "just as good as Dads or better" which is pretty high praise coming from that one. The waffle was "just okay" but the younger one was upset that they don't server pancakes (an oversight on my part) so he was being a crab. I tried the waffle and it was better than you can get in most chains, a bit denser, which I appreciate.
The gravy for the biscuits was richer than most everywhere I've been recently and had a very tiny spice nip to it. The menu says it's spicy, I wouldn't say it was "spicy" so much as has an extra pinch of pepper. But I did enjoy it!
I also knew going in there that they did not serve proper hashed browns, only home fries. They were nicely seasoned and my wife said they were nice. She also said that the corned beef hash was great.
The coffee was local, which I'm happy to support but I didn't think it was anything special from a taste perspective and decided to cut it with a bit of cream.
Service was pretty nice but also slow for how often the restaurant staff seemed to be lounging about and conversing. I'm totally okay with the laid-back feel if everyone has been attended to, but we felt a bit forgotten for a lot of the meal. Still we intend to go back when we're in the area, and maybe check out the bakery, which seemed completely devoid of baked goods when we...
Read moreI was a loyal local customer until today. I called ahead to pick up a to go order, told them I would pick up curbside (which I have done many times before). I live 15 min away, had my dog with me, took 10 min to find a parking spot almost in front of their entrance, called to let them know I was there and was told I had to come in to which I said I have picked up curbside many times before and said I would when I placed the order and was told they had to get payment and again I said you normally take my card and the person on the phone said she was going to ask her manager, came back and said because they were busy I had to come in. The food is great but obviously the level of service changes if they are busy. I was literally 20 feet from their entrance - only wanted curbside pickup because my dog was with me and I have difficulty walking some days due to kidney failure. This is a reason local businesses lose to franchises (I went to Starbucks afterwards)....Catering to out of town patrons (and there were plenty) while disregarding your loyal customers won't serve you well during the next lockdown. Educate your staff and manager, customer service should be consistent no matter how busy you are, but even moreso - and remove curbside pickup from all...
Read moreI wish I could give this place more stars than five, pictures don’t really do it justice. This place will forever be ingrained in my brain.
Upon closure of a family vacation in Sylva, North Carolina we went to part ways and decided to do a goodbye breakfast. I scour the Internet, looking for places close by that we could eat out before pulling out.
I decided on Lucy and the Rye based on other reviews and photographs. We arrived just as they were opening and besides one other couple were the only people in the restaurant. They were able to accommodate our group of seven by pushing together tables.
The service was amazing and friendly. The staff members gave us our menus and took drink orders immediately. As you can see every member of our group got a different meal. We were all excited to try things that we had seen pictures of online.
They could really be charging twice as much for the quality that they produce in their food. It was an unforgettable breakfast, a very friendly staff and a clean restaurant. I did utilize the restroom services and they were also clean and well stocked.
I can only say I wish they were closer to home and I could visit them more frequently, but it will have to be a once a year endeavor,...
