Enjoy fabulous freshly made food at the Mad Batter Kitchen in Sylva, North Carolina. The food here was so good! They make their homemade bread for dipping. I loved the vibe, and the staff was so friendly! What a great place! Perfect for beer, food, or just hanging out on their back patio. Most beer places aren't really known for their food, but this place breaks that mould! We had the Korean BBQ sandwich with the chips and beer cheese, wings, and the melted mozz knots. All of it was delicious, but the beer cheese and the knots were excellent! This place is definitely going on our rotation of regular places to visit! Looks like they do live music and the place is plenty large enough for big crowds. The outdoor area is done nicely and creates a charming and scenic place for drinks or a meal. There is an upstairs area with darts that overlooks the stage. Staff was super warm and inviting! Update: Unfortunately, Mad Batter has been over cooking some of their items the last few months. Use to LOVE their Mozz Knots, but now they are no longer ooie, gooey, yummy. Last night was the 3rd order we've received over cooked and hard and their wings were the same way. Still love their pizza but even that was incorrect after ordering extra cheese and didn't even get the normal amount of cheese. So disappointing, hope they will correct whatever issues they are having in their kitchen.

Highly recommend! Unique menu, live music, friendly people, clever theme. The food was excellent! The service, even better! This was likely the only time we'll get to enjoy this fun establishment as we are just passing through. But after an unfortunate accident resulted in our entire Pizza winding up on the floor before we ever got a bite, they not only helped us clean it up and reassure us that everything was OK, they made us a REPLACEMENT pizza! They did not need to do that! But that is A+++ customer service if ever there was any! They were so kind and understanding. We felt so bad (and embarrassed) and they went out of their way to fix it. We had the beer-braised pork nachos (YUM!) in addition to that darn slippery pizza šŸ˜‰. After a long day of traveling, seeing it in a heap on the floor would have been the worst ending ever, but the super nice folks at the Mad Batter saw to it that we had a happy ending instead. Sylva seems to be chock full of fun, friendly people who know how to create fun food too!

If you’re looking for brunch, please just save yourself the stomach ache and go over to Lucy’s. 2/5 only because I’ve had worse. First off, the place is dirty. The ā€œcleanā€ dishes (cups, mugs, and cutlery) had grime and food bits stuck on them. You’re also expected to bus your own table, which is fine, Innovation has you do that too, but the bus stations were FULL and gross. They ask you to tip directly after ordering, for literally just taking your order, and as other reviewers stated, not checking on you. They also had a literal child taking orders and he was very sweet, doing his best, but the woman standing over him was uncomfortably overbearing. We got a brunch salmon avocado bowl and the gorgeous bowl. When ordering a breakfast bowl I did not expect to get fair food - I thought it would be restaurant quality or at least dinner quality. I don’t think I’ve ever had brown rice that actively tasted bad. Not just meh, the food here was bad. Everything was saturated, literally dripping with grease, under-seasoned, the biscuits were both over and under cooked at the same time, the kale was hard, the ā€œpotatoesā€ in the gorgeous bowl were burnt house chips, the cheese was pizza cheese (? Or something else weird and hard), the eggs were rubbery and hard and weird, the coffee was super watery, etc etc etc. The food made both of our stomachs hurt pretty quickly, too. In no way shape or form worth $14 for the salmon bowl and $10 for the ā€œgorgeousā€ bowl (which was hilariously ugly, should have taken a picture). Also not ADA. As an individual with mobility issues, if I was having a bad flare up the place would have been a nightmare to navigate with a cane let alone a walker or chair, because it was so cramped and the floor was uneven both out and inside. Iā€˜ve had a lot of ā€œjust okā€ experiences, but this was legitimately a...

They forgot an order when we were done eating, i went to tell them they didn’t deliver said order and was going to make another order for something else to go. Asked for refund during purchase of togo order; person taking orders apologzed profusely for food not coming but cannot understand that I would like a refund? Kitchen hears my man taking orders blue screening and rushes out the item that was forgotten. I realize I am not getting any where and the order that was forgotten was my toddlers meal. I insist on paying for a different item as my toddler is about to start WW3 in the street. At this point i stopped caring about the refund of 10$ to at least get her meal started in the kitchen and relieve the line behind me waiting. As my wife was leaving she was told the forgotten item was delivered so no refunds. And we should just take our food with us. Got a great reference to try your place and was hoping for it to be our new local pizza place. I am good. Wish i would have read the reviews prior hand. It also felt like a dog cafe, while in line a dog got defensive and snapped at my toddler ; owner asked if she was ok but the damage is done…seems to be asking for an accident in a establishment that serves food and alcohol? I feel bad for that kitchen also!!! No AC !?! The real hero’s are the people making the food. End your customer service and start over. Do not bring your child if they are under 7. If you do come early and camp seats like everybody else that...

EDITED: I really want to give Mad Batter five stars because as a vegan, the options for dining in rural areas like this are pretty limited. There are some pretty great restaurants in Sylva but I’m talking about this one so here we go. I’m giving this place one star because I don’t appreciate being asked if I want to leave a tip. It’s intrusive, and considering that you have to bus your own table, they don’t refill your drinks, and I think out of the many MANY times that we have eaten there someone has checked on us one time while dining. And by checking on I mean ā€œDo you need anythingā€ I.e. earning the tip you’ve asked for. I also don’t appreciate being up charged a ghastly amount for vegan cheese ON A PATTY MELT which should automatically come with vegan cheese. That’s what makes it a patty melt. Otherwise it’s just a burger on toast. The staff has always been nice, and I’m starting to feel a little bit guilty that I’m only giving this place three stars but I’m going to stand by it. Also the vegan donuts, leave very much to be desired. It’s nice that they’ve added it to the menu but essentially it seems like it’s just pizza dough fried in rolled in cinnamon sugar. And to be fair, they are donut HOLES (at least s when we order even) , not actual donuts. Doughnut fanatics like myself definitely know the difference. EDIT: turns out the vegan donuts are not vegan, nor is the fries or the chips. Anything that is fried with animal products is not...
