Let me just preface my review by saying I've always hated going furniture shopping and the I think the main reason is the salespeople are the worst. They are either way too pushy or worse, know nothing about their product. For this reason I'm big into online shopping. Well my positive experiences at Furniture Fair have converted me, I will never buy furniture online again.
The first time my wife and I went here was back in March 2016 and we were looking for a leather sectional sofa. We were helped out by a salesperson named Jennifer. Now let me just say, I was really happy with the selection and showroom at Furniture Fair (there are tons of options) but I think the thing that made the biggest difference was Jennifer. She has been in the industry for many years, is very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. It seemed like her main job was to inform, inform, inform. She knows her stuff! She told as all about the different brands, their qualities, construction, materials, durability, and comfort. I had asked what the base of one of them sofas was made out of and she didn't know, so before I had a chance to say anything else, she was down on all fours flipping the sofa on it's front it over to check it out! We ended up with a relining leather sectional we could not be happier with (I would include the make and model, but I actually forget).
The 2nd time I went to Furniture Fair was in May of 2015 to look for a new mattress. My wife and I are currently using a very basic, bare-bones mattress I bought 9 years ago at Costco for like $500. We've recently discovered we are waking each other up a lot! I snore very loudly (apparently) and my wife moves around a lot. It's gotten so bad we've actually been driven to separate bedrooms.
Anyway our first stop was the Sleep Number store, solely because they have a mattress where you can adjust each side independently (for snoring). Immediately I was put off when the salesperson asked me, "How long do you have today?" I replied, "About 30 to 40 minutes." She then seemed frustrated and said something along the lines of "That's not going to be enough time. Fine...I'll do my abbreviated version." I honestly just wanted to walk away at this point, I think if a customer is willing to give you almost an hour of their time, you should be happy. We didn't end buying anything from the Sleep Number store, a small part of the reason was the cost and a big part of the reason was the sales people.
Then my wife and I thought, "Well we had a good experience before, lets go back to Furniture Fair. Well I wasn't disappointed. We were helped out by a salesperson named "Ned," whose name tag says, "Neds Beds." Anyway, just like Jennifer, he wasn't the least bit pushy, his primary concern seemed to be to educate us on the product. We started out by looking at the Tempur-Pedic beds (for the adjustable bases) and we never ended up looking at anything else. Ned told us all about the construction, materials and comfort levels. He even told us an interesting story about why they call a certain sleeping position "0 Gravity (it's based on how the astronauts are position during takeoff)." He also told us a cool story about a famous family who just came in to purchase a similar mattress (think football). We ended up purchasing a king-size, Tempur-Pedic mattress with adjustable base. They aren't allowed to discount the price of the bed per the manufacturers rules, but they did give us $300 to spend on accessories, which was nice! Once again, I really couldn't be happier with the whole experience.
If you are like me and hate in-store shopping (or only do online shopping), try giving Furniture Fair a shot, it's a very enjoyable, comfortable...
Read moreBuying furniture from furniture fair was probably the worst experience I’ve had as a consumer in a very long time. My girlfriend and I were greeted by Michelle who was very friendly at first. However, once she found out that I had a very specific budget to furnish my entire new apartment she turned cold and extremely unfriendly. There was a Veterans Day sale going on which allowed 11% off and free delivery as long as the pieces were not marked “hot buy” or clearance. I picked out over $2300 worth of furniture, none of which was marked as hot buy or clearance. Michelle of course had excuses saying “oh sometimes they aren’t marked correctly” and I had to pay full price. This was extremely unprofessional. I finally got furniture fair to agree to free delivery. At first they were trying to offer me free “curbside” delivery. Basically meaning they would drop my furniture in my apartment parking lot. Then after 20 minutes of arguing I got free preferred delivery. It took me another 10 minutes to actually present a receipt specifying that the free delivery would be preferred and not curbside. I was in the store on 11/8/2020 and was told estimated delivery on all of my items was between 11/17 and 11/30. My mattress was delivered promptly but nothing else. Two weeks after the estimated delivery date I received my TV stand. One month after my estimated delivery date I received HALF of my couch. I had family coming into town relying on me having an entire couch. One day before my family arrived which was on 12/20 I received the final half of my couch. Today on January 12, 2021 I finally received my bedroom set. If I had known it would take almost two full months to get my furniture I never would have done business here. They also give you a 2 hour delivery window the night before it will take place and you have absolutely no choice in time slots. I honestly do not understand how anywhere can conduct business like this. The only positive thing I can say about the entire process was the delivery teams were very kind and professional. If you want your furniture in the same month or two you purchased it DO...
Read moreUpdate 6/19/24: Lots of promises have been made about "making the right". But, they have yet to contact me about the dogs nails puncturing the furniture.
They did send someone out to fix the recline feature. we can now use our couch after months for actual sitting and stuff (after months of it working sometimes).
Update 5/13/25: They asked me to reach out to someone to resolve the issue. They have yet to respond to a single email after 3 weeks.
Also, there has been 0 contact from the warranty people after almost a month. They agreed that they need to fix the motor in the couch but have had zero contact since.
I am now changing my review from 2 stars to 1.
Original review: Do not buy the protection plan. They will tell that it covers everything. They make it sound like you would be dumb not to buy it.
Furniture Fair will respond to this review by pointing out they they don't service the protection plan and that is a different company. But, Furniture Fair is the one that sold me this product. Furniture Fair's salesperson pushed it hard.
We had two things go wrong at the same time. The motor went bad in our recliner and it got stuck in the the reclined position. The dogs nail punctured a hole in the other part of our sofa. We filled a claim.
Both of which are covered in the policy. They decided that they are not going to cover the dog damage because we filed it with the other claim.
They happened 12 hours apart. So we filed them together.
There is no path to appeal process for fixing this. Our couch will now have a hole in it until we...
