Silver King Games is more than just a place to buy minis and supplies. It’s a true community hub and one of Tacoma’s hidden treasures. John, the owner, is a genuinely good guy. Patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. He’s the kind of person who makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door.
While I was there, I saw about three people come in just to play, and a few others who stopped by just to shoot the breeze. Even the delivery folks took their time chatting with John, which says a lot about the kind of space he’s created. This isn’t just a shop. It’s a place people want to be.
In a time when big corporations and online giants are changing the way we shop, it’s more important than ever to support local gems like Silver King. The store is still here, still thriving with heart and community, exactly because of people who choose to shop local. If we want to keep places like this alive, all it takes is showing up, spreading the word, and remembering that where we spend our money matters.
If you’re into tabletop games or just believe in keeping Tacoma unique, stop by Silver King. You’ll find more than just great hobby gear you’ll find a place that...
Read moreI tried to visit on Friday at 615 pm. The store hours say they are open until 9 pm. There was nobody there. We tried to ring the bell like the the instructions on the door said. No one answered. We looked in the window and it looked like there was no one there.
If I try to visit again, I'll amend my review appropriately.
As promised, I'm updating my review.
I went there today. Parking was great and easy. The store is small and still filling shelves because he's moving into the location. He's very nice and friendly. He's open to ordering just about anything you would like.
He caters to board and role-playing games so don't expect CCGs. He mentioned several RPG groups that go on in the store. So that's a great thing for those who are...
Read moreGreat place to find and try new games. Today I tried War For Chicken Island. It was fun and pretty easy to learn. Also tried Everdale which is also a very good game. Good selection of "House Games" to try before you buy. If they don't have it in stock, they can order it for you. I always love coming here. If you like board games, this place should be on your "places to visit" list. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable about a wide variety of games and are always willing to help you with rules and to help you find a game that is right for you.
4/18/25 Always love coming here for Friday night gaming with friends! Once in a while we even get to meet a new friend. Come and join us...
