Iโve been coming here since I was a child. My parents are Trinidadian natives, and Iโm the first born here in the states. This is the only Caribbean store in Maryland I know of that I step in and immediately feel like Iโm in Trinidad. The smells, the personalities, and overall willingness to help. The owner definitely bought a piece of what I call home right here to Maryland. As long as theyโre in business, this will be where I go to get my fresh produce, meat, and anything else Iโm craving when I miss home. I wish there was a bit more variety in fruits and veggies. Last time I went, it was scarce and I had to use everything I bought within a day or two or it would have spoiled, but I may have just went on the day before a fresh shipment. Either way, Iโve never had a complaint. I hope you all stay open forever!
And for those of you that complain about pricing, you have to remember this is a SMALL BUSINESS bringing fresh, quality produce to you. And most of it is organic. But they donโt need to display that everywhere. You can tell by the way the fresh fruit, veggies and meat taste. I have climbed a tree in Trinidad to get a mango, and this is the only place I know that have mangos that tastes like the one In my uncleโs back yard. So if you want cheap prices, go to your local grocery and get the genetically enhanced โorganicโ stuff.
You get what you pay for. If the quality was bad, why would you keep coming? So hush and pay the...
ย ย ย Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment and concern after visiting the Caribbean Market on New Hampshire Avenue yesterday. Upon returning home, I discovered that some of the food items I purchased, specifically the Grace Home Style Soups in packets, had expired. This oversight is unacceptable and raises questions about the quality assurance practices at this establishment.
I am left wondering if the health department ever conducts inspections at this location, as the sale of expired food items poses a serious health risk to consumers. Additionally, I was dismayed to find that the store does not provide customers with a contact number or email for feedback or inquiries. This lack of communication further adds to the frustration of my experience.
I traveled 1.5 hours to visit this market, only to be met with expired and overpriced items. I urge the management to take immediate action to address these issues and improve the overall quality control processes at the store. As a loyal customer, I expect better service and adherence to food safety standards.
I hope that my concerns are taken seriously and that steps are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. Thank you for your attention to this...
ย ย ย Read moreI was searching for a Caribbean market to support and purchase from after being on the Next Door and wanting to check out other Carib stores.
I provided the 4-star ratings being my purchase of few produce (avocados ๐ฅ, tomatoes ๐ ), mostly sauces/spices, snacks, and some juices was $74.82!!! Insanity. Maybe it's inflation or the trickling recession still but that's insane especially when I didn't order any seafood or big bulk items...
IF I go next time I'd order my seafood, a few juices, spices, and avocadoes. Maybe that will make the 35 min trip more worthwhile ๐ฏ.
However, I loved seeing the characteristics of an ethnic market store: rice bags, packed shelves, lots of accents, and Caribbean brands I recognize (especially Jamaican brands ๐๐พ๐๐ฏ๐ฒ๐!) Hopefully the store is Black-owned, I'll just say that. With that being said please HIRE cashiers of deeper skin tones and diverse backgrounds too. Don't just hire the lightskin Latinx...
