Management... We are members of the ammo camp out crew that will often arrive at 5:30 or 6 am to have a chance to purchase bullets and shells in your store that opens At 9am. We wait anxiously for the store crew to unbox the ammo and place it in customer service on the counter for all to see. This allows us to see what stock has arrived...so you can determine based on inventory... and your place in line if you should wait or go. Sometimes saving me an hour and a half of standing if a small amount came in. The point: we witnessed a white female employee take about 900 to 1200 rounds of 9mm bullets off the counter and stash it under her register counter before store opened... after the stock crew had stacked them up. We had already calculated how many of us would not be making a blank trip based on the number of boxes in view. Sadly, we were not successful... I asked the young black man behind customer service about the missing ammo... he didn't know but suggested they may have been taken to the gun bar for new gun purchases... which I'm familiar with...so I asked the white older gentleman at the gun bar who did have a few of boxes... but had no where near the 1200 rounds... or the BRAND that was removed. Finally, please ask employees not to hold ammo for their friends... but instead...to join us in line and brave the 37degree weather like we did. Employees should join us too please. Other than this issue... my experiences shopping at the store have been positive. We appreciate your attention to this matter. Thx...
Read moreUp until 10 March 14 I thought the Academy could do no wrong. My wife bought me an iProtect Light and Laser for my XD 45. The sales associate made sure the combo would fit my sidearm. After receiving the light laser combo for my birthday I stopped in to see if they had a holster that would fit and what I needed to do to make sure it fit. The sales associate advised me to bring my sidearm in minus the magazine and a trigger lock on it and go to the front desk and a manager would walk me back to the firearms counter and the could match what was on the shelf a pick out what best suited me. Approx a week later I stopped in with my sidearm (trigger lock no magazine) stopped at the front desk was greeted by a store manager that checked to see if the firearm had a trigger lock and no magazine. He turned me over to a nice young lady to escort me to the firearms counter. This is where things went from bad to worse. The older gentleman opened the case as I was explaining what I needed. The first words out of his mouth were this combo will not fit this gun. ( I had already put a hundred rounds through it on the range with no problem ) after four attempts to put it on I had to show him how. He then proceeds to talk down to me like I was in fifth grade. Telling me they did not carry that combo and he did not have a holster that would fit it. He said it would be a waste of time to check the holsters he knew what he had. At this point I asked the young lady if she would get my sidearm and case and walk me out.

As I was getting ready to leave the store I passed my the firearms section and asked to look at the new Glock model 48, the young blonde haired boy behind the counter then proceeded to talk the firearm down in an attempt to insult my intelligence/knowledge of the the brand/firearm (glock 48). I then proceeded to ask the young blonde boy (salesboy) his experience carrying/using firearms, not to my surprise it's not as extensive as my training/knowledge. The staff then backed up as uninterested in my purchasing the item from them. So I browse the counter a moment more the head to the front of the store to purchase the shirts I came to the store for. As I'm finishing my purchase and talking to the cashier about his new purchase of an apple watch, I look up and see that one of the other sales people from the firearms counter has followed me to the front of the store and starring at me as is if I were trying to steal something, this made my Mother who was with me feel very uncomfortable. The behavior/knowledge of the staff was very unprofessional. Not likely that I will return to the Academy store in Tallahassee Fl. or any other Academy store. Cabelas and Bass pro are more than happy to assist me, and...
