Sad to say whom ever you had answering your phone on 3/16/24 around 7pm has put a bad taste in my mouth, before even getting to taste the food.
My husband and I was planning to travel from Sarasota to come and try the food but, we had a few questions before making the 45min - 1hr drive. I called and the person answered "Island crew please hold" then put me on hold before I could even get hello out. But I waited on hold as I understand the person maybe servicing someone at this moment or in the middle of a task. I waited on hold for about 4min, and it sound like someone was picking up and the phone hung up.
So, I called back, because I have had it happen to me before trying to answer on hold and pushed the wrong button and it hangs up. I got no answer on the call back.
So now, again me being understanding I gave it a minute and called a 3rd time. Person answers " Island crew please hold" and again puts me on hold before I can get a word out. But I hold again this time for 10min before I just hung up.
After that we decided we would go somewhere else.Which really sucks because everything looks really good and we were looking forward...
Read moreThe owner is a great guy, but his staff needs to upgrade their abilities or be completely changed out. Lately the food has started to taste bland and that's hard to believe seeing that this is a carribian style resturant. Why should a customer ask/request to have their food seasoned! One issue that burns my butt with same said staff is they will not simply listen to a customer and arrange that person's order as it was spoken to them. I have no clue as to why they won't listen, but it's not only dumb it is disrespectful to handle paying customers in such a manner. For whatever reason the kitchen staff are hell bent on doing their own thing, I have had to send back orders for the kitchen to correct for things like adding extra gravy on my rice or seasoning my veggies, when it's written right on the order ticket to do so! I have turnt many people on to this establishment because of how good the owner is and how great his food tasted when he was located on 40th st, all I ask in return is return to those great qualities that made me a loyal customer that was very happy and willing to promote...
Read moreI've been buying food from here for 8 years since I went to school next store to the restaurant. Going in where you can look them in the eye .service is OK but it seems like every time i order food from uber eats or door dash. They use the fact that you won't be able to ask them for a refund to just send you anything they want when they don't have what u need.
Last time i ordered the pork chop meal with yellow rice and black beans and cabbage.
Instead of messaging me or canceling the order becuase I guess they were out of rice and beans . They sent the order out anyway with just 2 pork chops some French fries and a small salad.
To make it worst the small salad and the big shrimp salad i ordered came with no dressing at all . I had to go to the grocery store just to eat it
