I had my father at medilodge in Tawas and it was the worst short term rehabilitation experience we have had. The staff is never on the same page, documentation isnât done properly, employees are reprimanded for communicating to family members, (but if it wasnât for them my family and I wouldnât know what was going on with my father and his care.) There is no transparency and the director of nursing went as far to call a team of drs who were working with my father to tell them his symptoms that I described were not acute. I told her many times of his diagnosis and she kept saying thereâs no record of it. At this time, the drs wanted him to be evaluated in the ER, she felt the need to tell them it wasnât necessary and then she communicated to my father that sheâs just not seeing those symptomsâŚwhich other staff members admitted to him having. Besides that I requested to speak with their physician and no one ever called me. My father is a diabetic and the insulin order they had for him wasnât working and after many request they refused to change it and put him on a sliding scale (like his drs originally had him on). His latest blood sugar was in the 400s. Do yourself a favor and do your research before choosing a place for your loved one. This was a nightmareâŚat one point they were sending my father to the er and I asked why I wasnât notified and I was told we donât notify family unless itâs an emergencyâŚgoing to the ER apparently isnât an emergency. This place is a joke. Oh and just to add insult to injury 72 hours after leaving medilodge my father had to seek emergency medical attention in Detroit, MI for a series of complications that I was told he did not have. If I didnât move my father he would have rot in...
Read moreWe the family of our loved one are very upset with the level of care that this facility has given our family member from the day he was transferred into this rehabilitation hospital for care from a senseless automobile accident. No fault of his own I may add. They did not have medicine for his care, they were not prepared for his level of care needed for the trama he had sustained. They do not bathe him well. The meals arrive late like almost 7pm. Their has been occasional forget to bring him a tray as he is confined to a bed non weight bearing on his legs. The third shift does not answer his call light for medicine or bathroom needs. One night this week they did get him transferred to the port a toilet and just left him there. He then transferred himself without help back to the wheelchair. Until someone finally answered the call light to put him back in the bed. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ANY PATIENT'S. We feel if people do not call and report these things to staff he would not get proper care. What happens to people who have no family or advocates. (Zero đ) There are a few nurses and CNA that care and the rehabilitation folks have been awesome. Hire people management that desire to help people not just...
Read more3rd shift sucks...that is all...not answering call lights...leaving patients on the commode...leaving patients to transfer themselves to a wheelchair or bed...or just plain out leaving them to rot...and lets talk about when my husband was dropped and hurt when someone didnt know how to use the hoyer lift...also they don't get bathed very often man...once a week...is gross...do better staff...and I do realize 3rd shift doesn't do the bathing...well it shouldn't be pushed onto the next person until nobody does it...I was giving him bed baths when he first got there...not a single other staff gave him one...and let's talk about weekends...why would you send someone to a care facility from a hospital on a weekend when no main staff are available on weekends...I also do realize some staff there actually care about patients...and treat them as such...they bust their butt working to get things done...but when my husband is treated this way...it makes me wonder what happens that is not talked about...if these things openly happen daily...what other things are happening that should be a concern...I am not happy at all...do...
