It's never easy venturing out to find a new hair stylist, and l've definitely had my fair share of horrific stories.

The last person I had, I stayed with them for 10 years until they decided to pivot to a different industry so l took my time in vetting who to go to next... and I am so happy I decided to give Kimi a try!

I've been following Kimi's instagram (@kimi_hair_color) for a couple years now and it wasn't until one of my friends shared her before and after that I finally pulled the trigger. (She drives all the way from San Diego to see him!) There was a bit of a language barrier; all of the stylists mainly speak mandarin but understand English to an extent. It does NOT interfere with their work or results though (just like making small talk while I get my hair done heh). Kimi mostly speaks mandarin which I can only understand a little but his partner Steven speaks Cantonese so I was able to make small talk with him. Yay!

RESULTS: I showed Kimi a few reference photos for color and style. My hair had been previously bleached before and I really appreciated the amount of care he took in not over bleaching my ends. Also, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how it turned out! Kimi and steven tag teamed my hair and let me tell you, my nail tech asked where I got my hair done and while I was out today, someone stopped me to ask for the name of my hair color. Double yay!

APPOINTMENTS: you can book with him through his instagram! I think most of the other stylist also book through instagram.

PARKING: I think there's a lot in the back? Don't do what I did... do NOT park in the front. It's 2 hour parking and I had no idea but thankfully I didn't get a ticket.

WIFI: just ask them for the password! The WiFi here was pretty fast, I may bring my laptop to work on stuff next time haha. I saw someone else do it during my visit.

TIP #1: always bring in multiple photo references for what you want! It may also help if you share with your stylist in advance what you want as well.

TIP #2: if you're getting your hair bleached or colored, anything that you know will take a long time, do yourself a favor and bring some snacks! Kimi and Steven were really kind to offer me snacks too but I don't know that they always have them on hand haha.

My daughter has been coming here with Chris the hairdresser for about two years she was 15 now 17 her last two visits Chris has had an assistant that “helped him” the last visit Chris assistant did my daughters whole treatment Chris did not touch her until It was time to wash it. Chris was playing with his dog the whole time my daughter was there for about 5 hours . My daughter came home complaining that her head was burning a whole lot I looked at her scalp she had burn patches raw scalp I called the salon spoke with the front desk explained my daughter’s situation she said it happens I said first of all Chris didn’t do her hair when she originally scheduled for Chris to do her hair Chris gets on the phone and says this normal they requested pictures so sent them pictures and they said it wasn’t burns I told them you aren’t a doctor he says if it was a burned she’d have blisters ignorant man there’s several different levels of burns ! They said bring her back we will do a treatment umm no we want our money back Chris didn’t do her hair his assistant did and he did a horrible job! They laughed and said all we could do is a treatment. They tried to say it’s because she does her hair often I laughed and said the last time she did her hair was a year ago with Chris/assistant !
