I feel like Apollo has definitely downgraded from the Apollo of a few years prior to 2012. There hasn't been any remodeling or changing of signs (but there have been many additions to the menu which can be seen by all the random pictures advertising different types of food that they have) and the seats and tables are still the same dingy ones as before. I do wish they could have cleaned up a bit, or at least put in some better light fixtures to make the place a lot more welcoming, but since I only come here to pick up to-go, I don't really mind.
In the past few years, I still stick to the same few things I have ordered from the past. I love the chili cheese fries here. The price has steadily increased from $1.80 for a small to $2.60ish, but it's still pretty worth it. They put the fries into the oil right when you order, so they are nice and fresh when they give it to you. I also love the amount of chili and cheese poured on top. It's a nice snack or meal and isn't as big as The Hat's chili cheese fries. My sister really loves their grilled cheese sandwiches. I think it's incredibly pricey at $2.62 for two slices of bread, some butter and two slabs of cheese - I can buy a loaf of bread and a dozen slices of cheese for around the same price. But I guess they do make it pretty well ... it just depends on how long they leave it on the stove. Sometimes it's not crispy/burnt enough and other times it's a little too well done. I don't usually order any burgers or sandwiches because I feel like it's quite pricey, but perhaps they are good ... I just stick to what I know.
I know the ownership has changed from five years ago. Now there are all Asian people working (and a Mexican lady). After reading a few reviews about their unsanitary ways, I did notice that sometimes they take your money and process it and give you the change, then turn around and deal with the food without washing their hands. I also find it strange that there are a bunch of different food items that Apollo serves. It used to be burgers and sandwiches, but now there are sundaes, terriyaki bowls, pork chop chicken, burritos, etc. I feel like when they think of a new idea, they just tack it onto a piece of paper and tape it up. How do they remember everything they have?
Anyway, they only take cash, and I have noticed that if you order to-go, you should sit down and wait for the food because the few times I have stood at the counter to wait, I feel like they feel rushed and try to get the food out quicker before it's cooked. So now I just sit and wait until they call out my food item. And be sure to tell them clearly if it's for here or to-go. They've gotten it wrong a few times. The food is good but the atmosphere isn't the best. I recommend...
Read moreThis place was great!!! I've been looking for a nice decently priced burger joint that is just like this. Let me tell you that it's very welcoming first of all. The owner really made me feel welcomed. We had some laughs and a nice conversation and it made me feel like I wasn't at a dinner more like a was at a friend's house. The cleanliness of this place is impecable. They are so clean here and keep everything nice and tidy. The food is fenomenal they make everything to order. I had just a regular cheese burger combo and let me tell you that it was totally worth it. Nice toated bread perfectly cook patty on the grill not the skillet ok. All the ingredients where fresh the fries where nice and crispy and with the perfect amount of salt. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to have a good meal the restaurant is a little retro and took me back to my childhood I wish there where more stars I can give this place. I will definitely be coming here more often and supporting this business and I definitely look forward to seeing new crowds here...
Read moreOldschool Local Longtime Burger Joint Owned by an AMERICAN🇺🇲 Family of Chinese Descent. Serving Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Burgers, Salads and a few Taiwanese Rice Dishes such as a Taiwanese Sausage with Rice Dish. They were out of their Pai Gu Fan (Taiwan's National Dish) or "Pork Chop (Over) Rice" so, I got this Pork Belly Rice with Egg, Rice and Pickled Veggie Salad.
I've went with their Burger Specials before which are relatively cheap like around $7.95 for a BURGER, FRIES + Medium Soda which was actually pretty delicious without the Typical Fast Food Processed Food Taste and it's probably Not As Bad as McDonalds or whatever chain. You're definitely also Not Paying TOP'S BURGERS PRICES and it's also pretty good here, such as TOP'S.
Their Sammies are Pretty BOMB! Everything is good here!
