I am relatively new to Temple, Texas. I searched online for a salon, and noticed roJo had great reviews, so I decided to make an appointment. I went in for a consultation, and requested that little bit of reddish tinge be removed from around my crown. My goal was to be ash blonde. The hairdresser assured me we could make this happen, and explained what her plans were. My hairdresser was obviously having a bad day on my first appointment, so she didn't talk much in spite of my attempts to initiate some conversation. We all have bad days, so I looked past the fact that I felt like my presence there wasn't necessary and that she just wanted to get me out of there as quickly as possible. As explained, she highlighted around my crown, leaving my ends out. My first indication that this may not go well was that I had a feeling I was being left under the dryer far too long with this bleach on my head. After she rinsed, she did an all-over toner, which was nowhere near the photo I had brought with me. She explained to me that she missed some of the old color, and that it would require another visit to remove it completely. Although disappointed, I understood and trusted that she knew what she was doing. I paid $193 for this service. After washing my hair the first time after my appointment, I realized how incredibly damaged my hair was in the area around my crown where it was bleached. I have stick straight hair normally, and my hair in that area is now kinky, frizzy and breaking off. After convincing myself that my second visit would end in happier results, I called to set my appointment, asking for a consultation prior to it so that I could show the hairdresser the new clip-in extensions I had purchased to make sure she could match the color. At the consultation, I shared with her that I was deeply concerned about having it colored again due to the damage that my hair had from the previous visit. She assured me it would be fine, and was confident she could match the color of my extensions, and that this time, we would finally get rid of the old residual yellow/red tinge for good. I was nervous, but excited. I went in for my second appointment 2 weeks ago. She was more pleasant this time, having just returned from vacation. She did the exact same process as before, and, left me under the drying nearly 30 minutes with bleach in my hair. After she rinsed, I assumed she would be weaving some darker color into my hair since my extensions were just slightly darker than my hair, but she didn't. Instead, she did an all-over toner in the sink. My hair was officially bright Texas blonde and I still had old color left. I was sick to my stomach because I had a wedding to attend in 3 days, which left me no time to have it reworked. I paid around $130 for the second visit. In hind-sight, I wish I would have been strong enough to express how sad and disappointed I was about my hair that day. I wondered if this hairdresser had ever heard of using a "bond multiplier" (Bond Angel, or Olaplex) to mix into the bleach, color or toner in order to protect hair from chemical damage. I regret that I didn't ask about this prior to service with them. Now I am living with the consequences. My hair continues to break off where the bleach was. This morning it became so tangled when I washed it, that I ended up having to cut a 1" knot out after trying to gently comb it out for 45 minutes. It breaks my heart to leave a bad review, but I am doing this in hopes that someone else may benefit from my story. As a small business owner myself, I would want to know if I did something that was upsetting to a client in any way so I could offer a full or partial refund, and so I could make adjustments for the benefit of future clients. On a brighter note, I did think the boutique was nice, and the receptionist was very sweet. The lighting is terrible for a salon, but since this is likely being rented, they may not be able to control that. These photos are my hair after an intense conditioning treatment and then air dried. Severe breakage about 3"...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI sincerely regret getting my hair done here. The stylist refused to do what I wanted with highlights due to the damage of my hair and only put in a demi permanent color. She told me that damage in hair is irreversible and the only thing I could do was wait for it to grow out. She told me several times she wasn't comfortable doing what I wanted and at that point I should have left to find a different stylist who knows how to handle damaged hair. Not a single person, including my mother who went to the salon with me, can see any difference in my hair. The stylist claimed to deep condition it, yet it feels rougher than when I went in. The dye won't last more than 30 washes, yet I doubt it will look different considering it didn't change the color of my hair any. What a waste of money. I'm out $120 and my hair looks worse than before. Also its completely terrible timing as I went in to get my hair colored before my wedding. Don't go to this salon. There are better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA woman and her head of hair are something special ! One might say it is almost religious to them. Think about the time they spend on their hair, the products they purchase for styling, shampooing and nourishment etc. Hair is very much a precious very feminine and special thing to ladies. Makes sense because I guess they can not shave their heads like we guys. Having said that, I was absolutely floored to read about one such local lady that I know has a passion for her beautiful hair and the love of Christ in her heart. I can not cut and paste her words below verbatim because of type limitation but I certainly want to make sure the word gets out. Truly upsetting that some business establishment, let alone one in this town would take such a personal thing like a womans hair and treat it like a commodity and the patron as just a number to be rushed out. Truly Horrible and Tragic. This place should feel very ashamed of itself....
