Mainly use the sports card area. I’ve been into sports cards and memorabilia since I was a kid. Was super happy to have one open up close to the house, as I am a regular at the one by my office in Houston. I like to crack a lot of packs and I don’t just go in and out. I like to go in and rip packs for a while. Hang out and enjoy my time.
The staff is, for the most part, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, they do not put prices on almost anything in the shop. This is the predominant reason I’m not more of a regular. You have to ask over and over and over again to look up pricing.
Also, the shop in general is very out of touch with current pricing trends and market values of almost all the unopened products in their shop. Way over half the time they look up a price in their system it is WAY too high, and even sometimes way too low.
I certainly don’t mind paying a few percent premium to fuel my hobby at a brick and mortar establishment. But $50-100 a box or more is just out of the question.
This pricing disparity is the prime reason I have to ask for each individual price every time I even want to consider buying something. If their pricing was up to date and I felt like I could rely on it being a remotely fair price the majority of the time, I would feel much more confident.
I also wish it was easier to just go in and crack packs at will while paying at the end. I did leave a license and a card with a manager one day and he let me enjoy it. But it felt like a complete inconvenience. I opened 8-10 boxes and I just have no desire to sign 8-10 credit card receipts or pay cash 8-10 times every time I’m in there. And if a manager is not there, forget about it.
Al in all, it’s really clean and organized. They have lots of product. Well stocked. Lots of memorabilia. Their consignment wall is a very nice idea. They are friendly. I differ in that I like BGS and they seem to push PSA hard. That doesn’t matter to me at all, just info for anybody interested. And they have had a couple great sales to commemorate their anniversary and such.
But it’s just hard to enjoy it when 90% of the time you spend in the store is wondering what price everything is. And then having to wait for an associate or a computer to open up to find out what...
Read moreThe Adventure Begins is a great place to head to if you are in need of everything from playing cards for all types of table top games, to models for games such as Warhammer and many other types, plus they have comics and characters for sale from many type of Anime.
This store is huge, it has a ton of different materials from books to cut outs, dice, decks of cards etc. It really is practically a one stop shop for anyone who enjoys table top gaming.
In addition to selling all of the above listed items they have a second story to the building, in this area they have the area where all of the table top gaming and competition goes on, you can find both casual gaming and competitive gaming going on.
Finally, they have a "Forge" this is a brilliant and a new concept where they have a 3d print shop, plus they can do buttons, badges, lamination, stickers, spines, the work and professionally paint your models for you.
I was very impressed with how professional their employees are. Aside from being some of the nicest people you can meet, they are very knowledgable about anything to do with their particular art, wether it has to do with the tabletop gaming mechanics to 3d printing or running tournaments, they are top notch and extremely polite.
This is a must place to visit, whether you are new to the tabletop genre or a lifetime professional, it is a great place to go.
Just take look at all of the other reviews, images and information about The Adventure Begins, check them out for yourself, I am very positive you will find this to be a top notch table top/card game / anime character / model shop!
While you are there, check out the Forge up stairs and see if it will fit your model creation needs. They have a catalog of items they can create for you or you can bring your own OBJ file and they can let you know how much it will cost, best price is the monthly subscription model!
5 Star from me because of not just what I previously mentioned, but this place is well organized, clean and tidy, of course friendly employees and best of...
Read moreWhoever was working on Friday 2/26/21 around 8pm-11pm. This person was very adamant about first come first serve on the rooms you are able to occupy at the store. However, even though my friends and I wanted to occupy one of the rooms he always had some sort of excuse as to why we could not be in the room. There was NO ONE in the room and we asked if we could go in and said he is expecting the people who left to come back. Their slot had finished at 6pm then he got other people in there and said they will be done at 8:30pm. But i thought it was first come first serve. Not for those people, that by the way never came back. After thinking about it, we were customers, we made purchases at the store and supported the store, and we would be open to leaving after whoever he was holding the room for or maybe he just didn’t want us in there for whatever his reasoning was. I ask that everyone be treated fairly. IF YOU SAY FIRST COME FIRST SERVE stay by your word, do not deny people who support your business. “The adventure begins”, more like “The Adventure that never started”! Or “ The Adventure Begins When I...
