Now that I have time to write my review from my services here... I really wanted to like this place but after three tries (twice by the director and once by the owner) they still couldn't get my hair right. The owners version of fixing it on the third try was throwing a few baby lights on top and calling it a day. I asked for a balayage with Carmel and honey colored dimension complete with provided photo that listed caramel highlights. They died my hair red. The director kept saying copper and I told her I wasn't opposed to a skosh for dimension but that I don't want copper hair or that much red. She kept saying copper, I kept saying no, and she did copper anyway. I never do red in my hair because it doesn't last . I have had this color done many times at other places with no problems; first shot, in and out of the salon in 1.5-2 hours. I paid for a balayage and what I got is not even close. It took 4 hours the first try, an hour and a half the second and over an hour the third time. Let's not mention that out of the 4 times I was in there that week I never got into a chair less than 15 minutes late for my scheduled appointment. I don't have that kind of time. I also paid for professional makeup services the owner did for my 40th birthday and I ended up looking like the mom from Adams Family. I had to wash it all off and do it myself and not one bit of it was even. I have really long lashes and the mascara they used was so old and dry it wouldn't cover my lashes. I won't get started on my brows and eyeliner that were not even close to straight because her hands were trembling from what seemed like withdrawal. My L'Oreal backup mascara at home does a better job. Are they even supposed to do makeup when we are in code red? I spent close to $400 in this salon and have nothing to show for it other than way too many hours of my time. They also put a dirty smock on me and when I took it off I had short black men's hair all over me. DISGUSTING! Never again. It is more than fair to say I tried to give them every opportunity I could to do what an Aveda salon should be capable of and they couldn't perform. I got really tired of feeling like a therapist and listening to Joelle ramble on about her very troubled personal life. She way over shared and I was not only baffled by how much she was telling a complete stranger, but horribly uncomfortable and mentally exhausted by the time I left. My husband could not believe the things she openly told me! I want to relax when I get my hair cut and enjoy some mommy/adult time, not hear a laundry list of the person I am payings personal baggage. Get a therapist and get off the pills. Maybe then the talent and drive will come back? I wish the best for them but just not somewhere I would recommend by any stretch of the imagination... They need to get...
Read moreI have only ever had Aveda color on my hair, no box dye or anything else. I went in for an appointment and asked for a blonde piece at the top of my hair (a "money piece"). When I called to schedule, I asked if there was anyone who specializes in working on dark hair because I wanted a blonde piece on my dark hair. I was told that none of the stylists specialize in any one thing, but rather they all work on all hair types. I moved to the area recently and was looking for a new Aveda salon to go to. So, I set up an appointment with whatever stylist. I have already been through one process of blonding at another aveda salon in January. They could not get it completely blonde, so I wanted another process to get it to the color I wanted. I expected a yellow/ orange color at the very least after this appointment at Glam. My hair is now a brown/ red-brown color. I was told I have "ethnic" hair and this is why it pulled a brown/ red-brown color. I also asked my stylist to hold off on the cut at the end because I needed to be out of the salon at 12pm and we only had 20 minutes to blow dry/ style. She proceeded to rush through my hair cut and style, I walked out of the salon at 12:10pm. I needed to pick my daughter up from her baby sitter, and my time was not respected here. My recommendation to the salon is please tell your clients that you cannot get them to the color they are seeking before doing the service, or discount the service if afterwards it's not what they were hoping for. Aveda services are too expensive not to do this at...
Read moreAs much as I don’t want to leave a bad review, I feel as though it’s absolutely necessary to save someone else from what I experienced…an eyebrow hacking!
My birthday was May 28th and I decided to treat myself to an eyebrow wax. I figured an Aveda salon would know how to wax, but boy was I wrong. I have naturally bushy thick brows that I only like cleaned up. I explained this to my waxer and THOUGHT she understood what I meant. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. Not only did she clean them up (if you will), she CLEANED HOUSE!
I don’t know why, but what I walked out with were super thin uneven brows. Imagine 90’s style overplucked. I didn’t know what to do so I called and asked to speak to the manager. She wasn’t available, but Madison was very helpful. She asked me to send before and after pictures.
I then received a call back shortly to come and get my money back with a huge apology for what happened. As much as I’m thankful that I received my $38 dollars back, it doesn’t make up for the fact that I have no eyebrows left and will have to spend way more on micro blading (something I have never had to do). I’m praying they grow back, but unfortunately that takes A LOT of time and there’s NO WAY I can walk around looking like I do now....
