Holy Smokes, this place is Amazing.
Let's get the CONS out of the way so we can chat about all that is wonderful here. It's a bit pricey. It's a bit on the louder side, so this is not a place to have a romantic conversation. And they will charge you if you take more than you eat, so be mindful of portions. You can't take leftovers home. Drink options are limited - you pay extra for a can of soda if you want, as drinks are not included in the otherwise all-inclusive price.
But knowing this, you should still eat here. Hands down frigging delicious. DELICIOUS. You order the broth and the protein you want, but everything else is up to you (so if you don't like it, it's your own darn fault LOL). Pork belly, rib eye, short ribs ... they have all my favorites. They also have chicken and seafood. You get to pick the condiments and extras to put in your broth, which cooks at your table. Then you add the meat you want, with as many veggies and ingredients as you'd like. I'm a huge mushroom fan, and they offer many different kinds of mushrooms, several I've never even heard of. King Mushroom? That was new to me, glad to try it (yummy and very hearty). And hubby was thrilled to get his fill of seafood (can't tell you what, as I'm not a fan). Parking is convenient - adjacent free parking lot, with ample disabled spaces. We waited 3 minutes once, walked right in another time. This is a family-owned place with great service. We will be back...
Read moreYES! I am SO happy to have an option closer to home in Northern Colorado. It is conveniently located off of I-25 and 136th. Great spot. It made me laugh inside - the music was bumping (I like that) and it severely contrasted with my experiences in China with hot pot. That was very austere and quiet. Biggie Smalls was not playing in Asia. :)
Hot pot is a FUN meal! Yes, it is more expensive than a regular meal but it is special and an experience.
I would look up hot pot to understand what it is before coming. The servers do tell you what it is and how the restaurant works. The veg and some fish type items were self service in back and I think the meats were to order (I didn't get meat) The servers were expedient with the broth and came back for water and broth refills. The broth I got (veg broth) was mild. I wanted the spicy broth, but it seems that one is never vegetarian. But it is ok. The veggies were fresh and the tofu was delicious.
And SAUCE BAR... the selections were great to choose from. I am SO GLAD to get my own sauces. A now defunct place in Boulder was making sauces for you, and it is super important to be able to concoct your own. :)
I really liked this new option! I'm very excited to have a great option nearby.
It is up to you, but I feel the hot bubbling broth plus kids is a no go. So maybe think about that before coming.
But anyone else......
Read moreMy boyfriend and I checked out this hot pot restaurant last night, drawn in by the fact that it is still new and the marketing photos present it as very hip, and touting a fun menu. All in all, our experience was very underwhelming. Our server lacked any sort of personality, or emotion it seemed, as she greeted and checked in on us with a flat affect and expressionless face. There are 9 different broths to choose from, and only 1 of them is vegetarian - the vegetable broth. The self-service veggie station looks sterile and sad and seriously lacks diversity and options. The veggie bins and sauce bottles were mislabeled, and I never saw them bringing out anything fresh. Tongs were placed in the veggie bins (or missing altogether) which is a great concern for contamination and health. While we did not ask to confirm, there are no prices listed next to any of the available meats, which lead us to believe we paid the same price as someone loading up on expensive meats. Last but not least, both my boyfriend and I got physically sick last night and dealt with stomach issues the entire night.
Whatever gusto the owners opened this establishment with, is gone, or was not present last night. They need to reconsider the contamination issues, and offering more vegetarian/vegan options for their guests. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant for...
