Beyond Urban — Local services in Tontitown

I normally wouldn’t post a negative review of a small, local business, but I was so deeply disappointed by my experience today that I feel it is necessary. My mom and I have been in multiple times and always felt really good about the shopping experience and the purchases we have made. We love supporting small businesses. I think we have been in about 7 to 10 times in total and I have recommended this shop multiple times to people asking for cute, local boutiques. Every time when entering the shop we were greeted and welcomed in. Today, we weren’t. The shop didn’t have any customers and the associates were both at the register area and clearly saw us walk in. I would have written off the lack of greeting as no big deal, except for the fact that about 45 seconds after we walked in a mom and her baby came in and she was warmly greeted. The ONLY difference between all of our other visits to the store and today’s visit is that my sister, who is visiting from NYC, was with us. My sister is biracial. We spent about 5 - 10 minutes walking around the store without anyone interacting with us, another anomaly, before we left. I don’t think it was done maliciously, but the result is the same. I always have a pleasant experience whenever I shop at Beyond Urban. The employees go above and beyond to help you find exactly what you are looking for. It’s a great shop for gifts of all kinds! The variety is perfect for baby gifts, teacher gifts and even gifts for just because. The sale corner is an absolute favorite of mine.
