Southend Outfitters — Local services in Topsail Beach

I was excited to check out this shop after a local's recommendation, but I never made it to the door. While attempting to park behind the building during dinner hours (the restaurant/bar next door is extremely popular), a woman inserted herself into the space. She informed us she is an employee & insisted (because the signage apparently wasn't sufficient) that this parking is saved for her customers. Before I could clarify my intended destination, she insisted that she would walk around the block and find parking for us, or she would have us towed. I appreciate that parking is at a premium, but the assumption and immediate threats were both unprofessional and unnecessary. Not the face anyone should want for their business in an otherwise friendly town. Cute store BUT my husband and I went into the store to avoid a quick rain storm and to pick up a few souvenirs while on vacation. The staff was terrible. Upon entry the lady at the cash register looked at us like we were gonna take things without paying. She never once asked if we needed help or offered any assistance. My 2 1/2 year old daughter was pounced on by one of their loose dogs as we tried to enter the store last week. She hit her head hard on the glass door and the dog busted her lip! I spent several minutes outside their store treating her lip and consoling her. The lady working, “I assume the owner” did not have the decency to apologize or at least check on her, just peeked through the window. Luckily, she was not injured worse but we will never step foot in there again. Get your dogs...
