It's not much of a beach vacation if you do not make time to visit the Topsail Beach Skating Rink one night (or two!) during your stay. To say it's nostalgic is an understatement. Old school wood floors, reasonable skate rental prices (I think cash is king), fun group games for prizes, I believe they do sell some snacks and drinks(?). No A/C so come prepared to sweat a little. Don't worry, plenty of fans to circulate the summer air. Skaters range from mostly beginners to pretty advanced, so don't feel like you'll be in the way if you're hugging the rail- many do. The music is a little more updated than years past when we skated to oldies from 45's. ( I miss them a little.) My son was able to hang on to the bar as he made his way around the rink. The music was great, they alternated between lights on and laser lights, and the staff were very kind!
