Community Actions Mission statement “To Provide Services, With Dignity and Respect, that Help People Become Self-Sufficient.” There is no RESPECT or DIGNITY to community members who sign up for a program that has an incentive, complete all workshops necessary, to be ignored and left in the dark about said incentive. I’ve waited and waited. I’ve been ignored after phone calls and emails. Maybe this will draw attention. I’ll elaborate. I signed up for the Family Strong program with my child. The “incentive” was the boost I needed to help get my child involved with some important life skills. Set the foundation for financial preparedness/ awareness along with the Youth Mental Health awareness class. My child didn’t NEED to participate in that one. But he did, along with myself of course- that was mandatory for me. The first class was July 17th. Virtual. & long but worth it. July 21st was the second class “Banking basics” that was mandatory for my child. I won’t get into the instructor showing up Late to start that class or even how they released the kids early the next class and I had no idea until my child called me asking why I wasn’t there. They just let them go. August 7th was the next class “teen financial wellness” during that class the instructors asked the children to sign up for the CPR course and they would get additional $ with the completion. We were already signed up. But to make it extra official I said go ahead and sign up again. I sent an email August 8th because my child was given a W9 and I had questions. I was never responded to. I called. No response. No guidance no nothing. I May have even left a msg that time I called. I called a few times so it’s hard to say. But, I filled out the paper and dropped it off. They thought we were there for rental assistance and had no idea what the family strong program was. &Without filling out the form my child could not receive the check so it was kind of important! The next class was The CPR class that was supposed to be August 14. I have other children so after making arrangements for them for all of these classes INCLUDING the CPR course, I arrive at the location only to find it had been canceled. Apparently there was an email sent out. Maybe 3 hours prior? Basically the morning of. I didn’t check my email after 8:00AM I was busy getting my children ready and dropping them off at a sitters. so I didn’t see the email telling us it was canceled. A text would’ve been better but 🤷🏻‍♀️ thank goodness I have access to my email when I need to though. I cannot imagine the huge inconvenience it was to some families who do not have the same resources such as a vehicle or a way to access the internet aside from a library. . How badly that impacted their day. The email stated they’d let us know when it would be rescheduled and I guess it hasn’t been? Because there’s been no update. Those were the mandatory classes with the CPR being additional $. I have called. With the last time calling being Friday September 20th and there has been NO WORD. No I did not leave a voice mail because my other voice mails were never responded back to. If we are “teaching our youth” “preparing our youth” I gave the speech “things come up .. this is life.. sometimes we have to wait…” but come on. It’s been over two months since the first class and about a month and a half since mandatory classes ended. Our youth performed a “service” in which they were to be paid for. I don’t know about anybody else but when I need to wait for a check the longest I’ve had to wait is 2 weeks. Some children did this to be able to buy school supplies or school clothing/shoes. This program is to assist the larger portion of the community who struggles financially. Also… financial preparation is a big struggle for our youth who have mental health concerns. Along with other disabilities. This has been a joke. Very embarrassing.very LAZY. Very DISRESPECTFUL. As I know I’m not the only person waiting in limbo. There’s been NO word. Not a call. Email. Text. Nothing. Very...
