This used to be a great store when they first opened. I happily donated my items and shopped for a good cause. Sadly, so much has changed. I used to donate items frequently but noticed that nearly none of my items were being sold. One day I stayed in my car to watch the donation process. The employees in the back took some of my nicer items and put them in their cars. The lesser valued items were tossed right into the larger dumpster. Very few items get brought inside to be priced and sold. The inside of the store is a total wreck. There is no air conditioning. Sexual images are drawn on the floor and have been there for an over a year. The shelves are mostly barren and contain old and destroyed items. Basically all of the higher value items are stolen by employees. There are so many donations that they often get destroyed by the elements and are thrown away. The weekend staff are particularly rude.
There are only a few positives about this location. The young lady that works the front register during the week is extremely pleasant and helpful. They are lucky to have her. I also find the clothing to be reasonably priced. There are occasional coupons that are nice as well. If you can find something worth...

Where are all the donations going? This is the only AMVETS thrift store on Long Island, the other AMvets are upstate (Rochester, Buffalo, West Senca, and DePew). I highly doubt they would be trucking donates up to the Buffalo region. I've donated books but never see them restock the book section. It's the same section from 3 months ago. And the record selection hasn't moved in over a year.
I feel like the management is similar to Salvation Army, where they don't really bother to keep up with the donations. And let it sit in...
Read moreIt reeks of something I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s a “bit” dirty, not a very interesting selection. A few shirts that could be viewed as disrespectful it said stay away from broke boys, in a thrift store. Items are not in very good condition, donations discarded like trash. The only good thing are the vinyls which aren’t up my alley but seem interesting but the staff are nice I don’t think that’s enough to deem going here worth it go to other thrift stores or donate to the veterans through charity or other stores.according to others it says that they usually do have a great selection but it I dirty and...
