first off, I want to mention that I only found this place because i was fed up with being upsold at other garages I'd been to. Brought my son's first car here for its inspection (which it failed, on quite a lot of stuff, but it's an old car.... So expected wear and tear.) They had it for two days and fixed everything. But before they went ahead with anything they called me up and gave me a run down of jobs, parts AND LABOR. (new to me) They gave me the cost of literally everything they were doing and the labor it would take, so when i went to pay, there were no surprises. The guys were ALL polite and friendly, didn't make me feel dumb for not knowing anything about cars. So, when I took my jeep in, because of a noise that i was hearing I was hopeful. I'd taken it to a proper Jeep place after my son had a bump in her. The jeep place had it for SIX WEEKS. They replaced the brakes, the temperature sensor and reset the internal computer, But told me there was no noise. (despite my hearing it the SECOND i left the shop.) but they charged me 2 and a half grand. for what they'd done, and i didn't want to go back. I went to Mavis, in deer park to replace the worn tyre from the accident, they did. and told me that the front struts needed replacing, but there was no noise. and no metal on metal grinding visible. they charged me 300, and said "the struts is a big, 700ish job" and sent me in my way. Well, I was about to go upstate but the grinding noise was making me very nervous, so i took my jeep there. Jake checked me in on thursday morning at 10am. they called me at 5:30 that night with news that there's nothing wrong with my struts, but my bearings were worn down to dust and the wheel was so badly damaged that replacing it was the only reasonable solution. They even gave me to option of getting a new new one, or one from a junkyard. he told me costs, and labor with the option of the struts "if i was really worried about them" and they had the car for me the next day. Seriously. the whole thing, took them two days. and it cost less than half of what i was expecting. So, they're straight up with you. they're transparent, they're honest. They don't upsell, and they already know me and my son, after only 2 visits. if i had a fleet of cars, they'd have my business. 5 stars, all day all night. Thank...
Read moreAfter waiting over 2 hours for AAA to come in the recent rain storm that caused many South Shore towns to flood, my son and I had to abandoned our car because my son was having a kidney stone attack. The following day T.J. reassured me that he can arrange a tow and look at my car to with no problem. I was happy to hear how easy that was for them to be right there when I needed help. As a single mom, this is huge.
Stack’s prompt attention and genuine concern for an emergency situation is truly something you don’t experience often in this world today. They treat you like family. Even though I live 15 miles away from Stacks, they will always be the place I call for my car repairs. Trustworthiness and reliability are their natural given assets not to mention excellent mechanics on staff. Thank you for being there and having the ability to make a stressful...
Read moreI had an intermittent issue with my 2008 Ford Edge that my service station couldn't find so I didn't want to drive to far from home. My concern was that it could happen again and leave me stranded. I needed to find the problem so I took it to Stacks and spoke with TJ and made an appointment to bring it in. Well I must say that through their determination and troubleshooting they found the problem and it was repaired. TJ and the Stacks staff were professional and were more than willing to take on the challenge of an intermittent problem. I also was given a ride home and picked up from home back to Stacks when the repairs were completed. Their driver, Mickey, was also a great guy. Once again I had a wonderful experience using Stacks. I highly recommend them not only for difficult problems but for all car repairs and scheduled...
