Bombshell Uptown Salon — Local services in Town of Bethlehem

Went to get clarifying wash and blowout as I Had received a $50 gift card for Christmas and did not want to waste it. This had been suggested to me by my stylist who left bombshell after the holidays, but I never got my hair washed, because I have several blown discs in my neck, vertigo, and get migraines from the sinks. My stylist was wonderful, and always had me wash it, come into the salon, then she would spray it with water, cut it and blow dry. I had gorgeous healthy salt & pepper hair, white around face. Was convinced to try something else by another stylist working next to mine, then another, then the owner. Of course the other stylists conveniently disappeared as my circumstances worsened, But not the one who started it all with her suggestions to the stylist I began with-who Ido not blame- who walked around the salon following the electric vacuum, totally ignoring me and continue to do so as she was styling someone right next to me-as the horror of my head unfolded over 3 1/2 hours she chose not to say a word. I then left in tears with a wet head, crying hysterically. Got home, dried it-my hair now is sm amt white in front, majority of the sides are stripped to blonde, back has some black-ish left, rest, brown with blonde streaks. I am 69 - I look like a freak! They ruined 15 years of patience dealing with growing out the gray, then growing the length. I once lost my hair due to chemo and now I may have to cut it all off again. Or color my whole head, cut it short and grow it out again. Neither is a pleasant choice nor one I should have to make. I wish I never used the gift card I would still have my beautiful hair! Everyone along the way kept assuring me what they were doing would make my hair back the way it was. I'm very hesitant to let stylists touch my hair and since I've moved to albany it took over a year to find the right person. I have 3c/4a hair and for some stylist it's hard to manage but not Jen.

I found her on Instagram while searching for stylist who could do silk presses. I wanted to change my entire hair color for the summer and she looked at my inspo pics and gave me the beat color ive ever had... Then my employer needed me to change my hair color and Jen helped me find a great color that was close to what I originally wanted but still more appropriate for work... she takes her time to make sure you get what you want while making sure your hair remains healthy. Every single appt I've had has been prompt and I've been treated more than excellent by each staff member. Everytime I go the owner is always showing newer stylists techniques and that's refreshing to know the owner cares about the growth of her stylists. The salon is beyond cute, very clean and they offer refreshments in the lobby. I even got my eyebrows done there because they offer waxing as well. I am extremely happy with the services I recieved and I highly recommend Jen to anyone whether you have very straight hair or natural curls you want to maintain. She is amazing and professional. I don’t appreciate their lack of communication in pricing. Firstly they never called me to notify me that they changed my stylist to a different stylist whose prices were higher - thats one. Then , I was charged extra because my stylist could not complete my blowout in time and they had to assign me another stylist whose prices are even higher to finish up. I don’t understand how I could be charged extra for something that is not my problem and then on top of that , not have that discussed with me. The new stylist then charged me extra for curls as she said she was unable to use the blow drier to flip my ends, but did not discuss that the curls would be extra. And not only is it extra but the prices were now based on the new stylist that was doing my hair. I’ve called and communicated this to them and they said they would get back to me to discuss a refund for unapproved & undiscussed prices and never got back to me and now I feel played. I should’ve listened to the previous reviews about their pricing & you should too. There are plenty of other more transparent and affordable salons...
