The Coray Kitchen boasts one of the best conceived and best executed menus in the entire region. Everything listed sounded inspired and everything delivered to the table proved to be so. We started with the charred broccolini which was the finest example of that dish that we had ever had. Also the Lacinato kale salad was inventive and of an amazing texture and flavor. Our mains were an amazing "mushroom ragu" over perfectly prepared homemade linguini and the Spanish seafood paella. The reviewer for the Times Union, apparently oblivious to the difficulties of serving dishes redolent of saffron in the last 40 years, referred to the rice in this dish as "plain". It is hard to be further from the truth as not only was the rice extremely flavorful but the reviewer failed to mention that every component of the dish....scallops, shrimp, mussels, and the amazing homemade sausage, were all cooked to perfection. A common deficiency of paella is often that some ingredients are overcooked and others under. Not here! The deserts were equally masterful. This is a great addition to the dining scene in the region but the Times Union seems to want to scare away the public based on the lighting in the room and the inexperience of the waitstaff. The lighting could be improved upon, perhaps with merely changing the color qualities of the bulbs. And the waitstaff, although perhaps not yet running on all cylinders, will surely improve as they gain experience in managing the timing of the service. The staff, as well as the owners, are clearly devoted to this enterprise and I'm confident will do everything in their power to make your...
Read moreMy husband and I tried Coray Kitchen for the first time last night. We had a truly beautiful time here, beginning with the front entryway, which features the artwork of the owners' young daughter - such a lovely, welcoming touch, and an indicator, I think, of the love (of family, food, hospitality) that Coray Kitchen is all about.
The hostess (Casey, I believe, also one of the owners) was extremely warm and friendly, as was our lovely and attentive server, Zan. The food was excellent with thoughtfully curated and beautifully prepared flavors, from our beef empanadas (appetizer) to my halibut (a regular on the menu) and my husband's braised short ribs (a special that evening) to our dessert of a chocolate-chip cookie with ice cream. Zan kindly guided us with her wine recommendations.
Coray Kitchen has both "special occasion vibes" as well as "neighborhood hangout energy" - it's beautiful and intimate, without being pretentious. Stanton and I wish Coray Kitchen and the wonderful owners and team here all the best, and we look forward to our next date night here ... we'll definitely be back! Thank you so much for a beautiful evening, Casey,...
Read moreMy wife and I had reservations at 5 o’clock last night and our host sat us right away. in a nice table in a corner, that was quiet The restaurant had a good crowd at that time and it was nice to see them busy We started with an appetizer of roasted carrots, and then proceeded to eat a arugula salad then we had the roasted oysters with the chili oil and cheese for another appetizer, and then we had an appetizer of the duck confit wrapped in corn tortillas All of the appetizers were outstanding for our entrée we shared a roasted pork chop with roasted pears, grilled asparagus spears, and a carrot turnip purée. The only thing left on the plate when we finish was the bone. For dessert, we had the delicious lemon cake and a strawberry custard tart that had a touch of blue cheese in it, which was a nice accent It’s nice to go out to see a chef with a very creative menu with great ingredients and the knowledge to know how to put good ingredients together I would encourage anybody who’s looking for a great place with great service and fantastic food. Corey kitchen Will cover all your needs Fantastic...
