I would rather not write this, but I feel I must. Justina is a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing. She comes across all nice and sweet, but she is a shark. My 80-year-old mother was referred to her to sell some very nice antiques she had acquired many years ago. Justina went to her house and offered her maybe half of what the items are worth. My mother, who is completely stressed out over selling her house and moving to a lifecare facility, said yes without even negotiating. She also let Justina take something that wasn't included in what was supposed to be for sale: an item from my childhood that had tremendous sentimental value to me and my sister, which my sister wanted to have for when she has grandchildren, and which we had told our mother to keep. I called Justina to ask for this item back and she claimed it was sold. Yeah, right. When I told her it seemed that she had taken advantage of an old lady who didn't know any better by giving her a low-ball offer, all she could do was try to blame my mother...saying that my mother called her, that my mother showed her everything that was for sale, that my mother accepted her offer, that my mother didn't have to accept the offer, blahblahblah. My mother is 80, and stressed beyond belief: any decent person would have realized that and treated her fairly. She would have accepted a coupon book for a car wash if Justina had offered that. I asked Justina more than once to just do the right thing and pay my mother a little (not a lot) more, but she would not budge. This is not a good person.
UPDATE: I just learned from my mother (because she was too embarrassed to tell me before) that, AFTER, she agreed to Justina's offer, Justina asked if she could take additional items...my mother said yes...and she just took them without offering my mother any more money! Who...
Read moreAnyone who could write a bad review about this business or these folks must be smoking crack or cooking heroine! I have known these folks and purchased from them since they first opened this business and I’m here to say they are in my humble opinion among the best most down to earth dealers in the antique community something We have been a part of for over fifty years of collecting. Gone are the days of cranky old people and spinsters not having the time to answer your questions regarding an item. Open the door and you’re welcomed into this magnificent business. Their prices and knowledge are spot on and if they are in need of assistance they have amassed a network of knowledgeable people in the community to contribute to their success and yours as well. Remember folks who come to sell your items, there is no possible way to place a price on sentimental value of a piece. If a piece contains such worth to you then keep it! Without folks like Sabbath and Justina who come into this field with good intentions and commitment, the opportunity for adding a great piece to your collection would be limited. Long Island needs more places and people like this to carry the joys of collecting into the...
Read moreDO NOT FALL PREY TO THE SMILES. THESE FOLKS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OLDER PEOPLE. My elderly mother is selling her home. Having collected colonial antiques throughout the late 1960s-early 1970s, she now is moving to a much smaller place. We had gotten an estimate of well over $1000 for the items. We understood that we would be there before any sales were made, to keep just this type of thing from happening. Then, Justina came, charmed and took, for ONLY $500, which is substantially less than the value of even one of the pieces. When my brother spoke to her and mentioned that this was the case, Justina was less than interested in being fair or honorable, despite the fact that she had been recommended and despite the fact that friends of my mother's had used her services. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. Business is business, but taking advantage of the...
