Halal Lemongrass Express — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Wonderful place for Halal Thai/Chinese cuisine! I never thought I'd see the day where I can have Halal Thai food on Long Island, so I am pleased to see more diversity out here. My favorite would have to be the beef-peppered steak, it's a bit more pricy but it never disappoints and it's filled with flavor. Also a huge fan of spice which they do an excellent job in preparing. Their style of prep is typically a bowl of rice with your ordered platter, and the platter is loaded with veggies which I think is great. I've been here when they first opened, and I've been going to this day. I did notice their portion size has dropped, which I am a bit disappointed in, but the food quality is still great. Other runner-ups would be the spicy chicken and the General Tso's. The restaurant doesn't have the best ambience (poor/dim lighting, bland wallpaper with some pictures of Thailand, etc.) and there is limited seating, but the food makes up for it. I've been here recently during covid and I called in the past, I assumed they didn't allow dine-in but they were so welcoming and allowed us in. It was just the 3 of us but it's a kind gesture, especially when they seemed they were moving things around. Workers are wearing masks and gloves and the food was prepared in plastic plates to minimize contamination. Great service overall, and I really hope more Asian cuisine spots open...

My recent visit to Lemongrass Express left much to be desired. Despite being regular customers, our order experience was thoroughly disappointing. We placed our order at 8:03 PM and waited eagerly, calling several times without any clear response.

Our food finally arrived at an exasperating 9:58 PM, a wait of nearly two hours despite living just seven minutes away. The inconvenience was compounded by the fact that the rice was overcooked and clumped together, far from the quality we've come to expect. Additionally, despite requesting mildly spicy soup, it arrived devoid of any noticeable heat.

Communication with the staff, particularly with Nancy over the phone, was frustrating. While we raised our concerns, we were met with a terse response and only offered a meager $7 discount after we insisted on compensation.

As longtime patrons, this experience has left us questioning the service standards at Lemongrass Express. While we've enjoyed their food in the past, this incident has given us pause. We sincerely hope they can address these issues promptly to restore confidence among their loyal clientele.

In conclusion, based on this visit, we will be hesitant to order from Lemongrass Express...

I have tried likely every take out in this area since I moved here 12 yrs ago. I remember going here once and liking it, yet never tried it again, until today. Im disappointed that I haven't returned all this time, it was FANTASTIC! I order only from locations that deliver where I can pay cash, and this place does that. I wasn't in the mood for your run of the mill Chinese dishes but more so for Thai food. I love that this place has both. I ordered Chicken Egg Roll and Mongolian Beef. For starters, i have always said you you can tell how good a place is by they egg roll. If the Egg roll is good, everything else will be, IMHO. The egg roll was PERFECT, exactly the way I like it. Extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. It was delicious. The Mongolian beef was AMAZING! And I enjoyed that it came over white rice in lieu of fried. It was reasonably priced and came MUCH sooner than it stated it would on the online order. Very quickly! Very satisfied and my new go too for this kind of food for sure! Highly...
