⸻ Title: Disappointing Experience at The Village Idiot Pub I was really looking forward to visiting The Village Idiot Pub in Lake Grove, especially after hearing some friends rave about it. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected, and I left feeling quite disappointed. Atmosphere: Upon entering the pub, I was struck by how dark and cramped the space felt. The decor seemed outdated and not very inviting. The seating arrangements were awkward, and it was challenging to navigate between tables, especially during busy hours. The noise level was overwhelming, making it difficult to hear my friends across the table. Instead of a cozy pub vibe, it felt more chaotic and unwelcoming. Service: The service was one of the biggest letdowns. We were greeted promptly, but after that, it felt like we were forgotten. It took nearly 20 minutes for our server to take our drink orders, and even longer for our food to arrive. When our meals finally came out, our server seemed rushed and inattentive. We had to flag her down multiple times for refills and additional napkins, which was frustrating. It felt like the staff was overwhelmed and not adequately trained to handle the dinner rush. Food: Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered the fish and chips, and my friend got the burger. Given the pub’s reputation, I was expecting something delicious, but what I received was disappointing. My fish was overcooked and greasy, and the batter lacked flavor. The fries were soggy, not the crispy golden ones I was hoping for. My friend's burger was dry and bland, and it seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. The presentation was lackluster, and it felt like the kitchen just wasn’t putting in the effort. Cleanliness: Additionally, the cleanliness of the establishment was concerning. The table we were seated at had crumbs from the previous patrons, and it took a while for someone to come by and wipe it down. The restrooms were equally neglected—dirty floors and a lack of basic supplies like soap and paper towels. It made me question the overall hygiene practices of the pub. Value: Considering the quality of the food and service, I felt that the prices were too high. For the amount we paid, I expected a much better experience. There are plenty of other pubs in the area that offer great food and service at a similar price point, and I will be opting for those in the future. Conclusion: Overall, my experience at The Village Idiot Pub was disappointing. From the lackluster service to the subpar food and cleanliness issues, I left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I was hoping for a fun night out, but instead, it was a letdown. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements, but until then, I won’t be returning. It’s a shame, as this place has potential, but it just didn’t hit the mark during my visit. Also the prices are...
Read moreVisited on Sunday 11/3 for lunch right before noon. Only 4 people seated at the bar when we walked in, waited to be acknowledged while the staff stood in the dining room talking. One of them being the manager. Finally someone with bright colored red hair came to the front desk. We asked if the dining room was opened. She’ said “Yes” with a nasty attitude and walked away. Someone else just said sit anywhere. We waited for menus for well over 5 minutes. The server wasn’t anything great, but I wouldn’t expect her to be since it seems the staff isn’t managed very well. Waited 20 minutes for a cup of soup and a garden salad. When we finally got our entrees I asked the food runner for lettuce, tomato and onion for my burger and he looked at the food ticket checking to see if it was rung in, didn’t say anything in return and walked away with an attitude. Had no idea if he was coming back or not. When he brought it out I said thank you and once again didn’t even say anything and made us feel we were a bother to him. Staff eating at service stations, a bunch of standing around. Super disappointed in the entire visit, on top of that the food was terrible. I understand it’s a new restaurant and food can take some time to come out of the kitchen and expected mistakes, but being ignored, and treated so rudely by such a miserable staff has lead me to never wanting to visit either location. The bartender could’ve acknowledged guests walking in but she didn’t care to give any accommodating service either. She’s the first person you see when you walk in, she’s should be trained to acknowledged guests if there’s no hostess at the front door. Such a shame, nice place,...
Read moreIf I could give this place less than 1 star I would. I’m mind blown of how disgusting and disappointed of how the service and food was. Over 100 dollars. First the waitress Arianna was beyond unpleasant and unprofessional. Definitely needs to be retrained. With us and another table being the only custom in the restaurant anytime I had a question about the menu she would be walking away to the point I had to get up to find her. We ordered boneless wings she brings on the bone by the time we received them we got them with our meals first waste of money. Second one of the burgers came burnt and a half of slice of brunt on cheese second item that was a waste of money. Each burger I did not know each topping was 2 dollars extra when I asked about it her answer was it says it on the menu. Next I asked for honey mustard on the side I notice on the bill 2 dollars extra I brought that to her attention she said yeah we charge extra for that I said well that was NOT on the menu you should of said something her answer was “ oh well” I’m still mind blown with this women work ethic. And how a popular Long Island restaurant with multiple location hires employees like this. I love the fact over 100 dollars I received the wrong food, burnt food, over charged and disrespect. Thank you village idiot for a story I will be sharing with many people I can. it’s amazing how the manager of the place is refusing to answer anything I got a email stating that I should’ve brought the issue up on site but I also would like to know how I can bring an issue up on site when there was no manager on site. There was a bartender and a waitress. so maybe the manager can answer...
