
Fitness has been a part of my life for a while. I gravitate towards endurance events, initially running but over the past few years I have been participating in triathlons. I was doing ok, but had a hard time keeping up with the same level of effort in the winter months. So, based on word of mouth I decided to try crossfit. Port CrossFit was the closest location. I walked in the door for my very first session (a one-on-one on ramp) and immediately I felt welcome. I never loved lifting or weight training but Port CrossFit makes it fun. More importably they make you feel welcome, like part of a group, and excited about fitness. I love the classes and the attention the coaches give. Since I began two years ago, new cross fit locations have popped up. I pass by two different cross fit "boxes" on my drive to Port CrossFit, but I have no intention of switching. I found out about Port Crossfit from my neighbor who had been a member for a couple of months. You see I was 49 years old at least 50lbs over weight and looking for something to get me in shape that I could stick with. From the first time I walked in to the Box I knew Port Crossfit was for me. The coaches were so welcoming and encouraging. They work closely with you to make sure you work within your limits but push you when needed. The constant change in routines keeps you wanting to come back for more. Oh and the best part is the strong sense of community the team at Port Crossfit fosters. The classes are filled with people who are encouraging and supportive no matter what level you are at in your training.    Read moreI did not know what to expect when I walked in for my first class. I just wanted to get in shape and have more energy. After working out regularly at Port Crossfit, I achieved my goals and much more. The exercises and movements we do at Port Crossfit are helping me improve my ability to perform many physical tasks, even outside the gym. Last summer I went on a tree adventure with my son. I did not realized, when I signed us up, how much work climbing trees would be. I was happily surprised when I realized I was able to enjoy the adventure without breaking a sweat!
I wouldn't have survived the workouts without the support of the coaches and other members. The coaches are knowledgeable and very friendly. They guide me through every step on each workout to make sure I am working within my skill level, but pushing me to get better.
