Holiday Twin Rinks — Local services in Town of Cheektowaga

To elaborate on my rating: The rink itself is old and shows its wear. We were there on a particularly weather heavy day with rain and snow. The front entrance was full of water logged floor mats that needed to be removed and at least allowed to drip out. I saw it as a hazard for the many people coming in and out. Parking was at a premium and the lot was certainly not plowed. The rains created huge ponds of water in the lot which were difficult to maneuver around on foot. Inside the seating at the rink was pretty sub par. The wooden benches are something to expect and they were covered with plastic coating which was broken and peeling in some locations. The mesh fence that separated the seating from the rink was broken in places and had a hole in one area. I found the common areas to be kind of dirty with trash laying around the floors in the arcade and the seating areas above the rinks. To me, knowing that a tournament weekend is busy, I would expect that the staff would be there to match the need for cleaning. Again, I appreciate the facility as being older but it's the little details that stick out to people when they watch their kids play there. (Responding to request for improvement suggestions on my original review) We've been here a few times over the years for tourneys and it really wasn't bad. But I wouldn't put it above average on the whole for a few reasons: Bathroom stalls and locker rooms are really tight. I realize remodeling is expensive and room is finite but if you're looking to make the experience drastically better those would be worth serious thought. A couple lower-cost ideas: The many hand sanitizer stations don't seem to be regularly checked, maybe reduce them in number and just keep a couple up front to manage expectations and maintenance burden. Several of the panes on rink 2 were in pretty rough shape visibility wise (puck marks and scratches) this weekend. Zero stars. This place is terrible! My kid's squirt team was scheduled to play at 8:15 this morning. Three idiots were on the ice taking slap shots and they let them stay on well into game time. Then they started pulling the Zamboni onto the ice with 6 minutes left in the game. They kicked both teams off and wasted 6 minutes explaining to the coaches why they were getting kicked off. I'm so grateful this is not our home arena. Hopefully they refund us for the ice time the teams paid for. Why did they end the game early and kick the kids off the ice? For a practice that didn't start until 9:30. The ice sat empty for 10 minutes after the Zamboni.
