I had, put mildly, an incredibly bad experience with a custom Stickley motion sectional purchase from this store. Worst: installed incompletely missing a support leg which was sent later in the mail to us. I've tried contacting Stickley but now I get no response. I have given ample time for them to rectify. The issues we had of the reclining foot rests not fully closing warranted then to send out a contract expert but he did not succeed in fixing the issue, only mitigated it. It's abysmal that a highly reputable brand can't accomplish something so simple that cheap brands can - I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that a motion recliner can close completely without me pushing it in the last inch.
The missing leg support means a portion of the sectional feels tilted where one sits. Part of this is also the design for the motion button which presses on one side of the recliners cushion, making it feel more firm on one side. On top of this, some of the seats have significant gaps that have widened with use, causing us to need a blanket to fill and create support. The bag material inside the pillows and seats to retain the down is so cheaply made, feathers consistently come out of the pillows and cushions. We opted for the higher firmness option which had some foam core and down I believe. But the pillows are all down and become pancakes pretty instantaneously.
Because it wasn't in store we were shown the closest options to what we would be getting to help us make our decision. Both of which had attached backs which we stressed was crucial to us. Our salesperson assured us our sectional would have attached backs which it did not (I found out later that Stickley motion sectionals don't have attached back options which would have lead us to an alternative brand that was significantly less cost.)
All in all, this has been a waste of money from the best of my intentions. I wanted a sectional with support for my back pain and wound up with an over $10k mistake. Lesson learned. Don't shop here. Don't believe the old American brands are...
Read moreThis store is about to be remodeled; toward that end, there were values galore to be had in floor samples. Designer Jan Schoen is that rarest of people involved in sales: instead of haranguing customers about what they should buy, she somehow knows how to make it easy for customers to buy furniture from her. Her knowledge of furniture and the entire Stickley line is encyclopedic; yet, she never gives the impression that she is doing anything other than answering customer questions. Even when we had to track down some throw pillows that didn't make the shipment, Jan was on the case. Her consummate professionalism, patience, and humor is what made shopping for furniture a joy, rather than drudgery. As they say on television commercials, "ask for her by name."
Even the best salesperson's finest efforts can end up being bitter if the crew delivering your purchases lack the knowledge and experience to do their job. Our two delivery personnel, Moses and Serieon, were the tip of the arrow of their profession. Getting everything we bought into the house and making it look as if it had always been there, while making it seem far less of an effort than it truly was, is the hallmark of a pair of professionals.
To sum up: our experience was wonderful. May yours...
Read moreI was looking for a leather recliner to complete my living room, and was helped by Alicia at the Stickley store in Colony. I found a Hancock and Moore recliner that was comfortable and nice looking. We looked at pictures I brought of my other furniture in the room, and I chose a leather that appeared to coordinate. Six months later the chair was delivered. I noticed shortly after the delivery men left that the leather on this chair was not the leather I ordered. It is a slippery, very shiny leather which is not what I wanted, and it is darker than what I ordered. I sent a picture of the chair I received to Alicia. She sent me the swatch I ordered, which is of a grainy leather that is lighter in color and coordinates with my other furniture. I sent pics to her showing the significant differences in the two leathers. It’s now two weeks later, and I was just informed that she sent an email to Hancock and Moore to see if they’re willing to do anything. I don’t know if the incorrect leather was ordered by Stickley or upholstered onto this chair by manufacturer, or this is a bait-and- switch practice they have going. At this point I regret making a purchase from Stickley Audi in Albany....
