The rehab has a strong reputation and reviews so I aimed mom will have a great help there, unfortunately I didn’t see except discrimination against her. PT was good but my mother has a brain stroke and stayed for a month there and the result is my mom can’t even sit in bed, doesn’t walk, doesn’t eat solid food, and left the place with her hair totally destroyed. They didn’t shower her for 2 weeks and when I complained they said she has refused, they send her out for non emergency CT in a freezing weather wearing only a goin and hospital blanket. They send her home without arranging for home aid or even called after to check on her. On Christmas they cut her Christmas flowers and thrown it in the bathroom and argued over few minor Christmas decorations. Also their nurse said my mother had elevated white blood cells and the nurse director and doctor denied it. Case manager Tina isn’t helpful at all and said she contacted mom’s insurance to arrange for home aid but she never did and left for the Christmas and new year and this has led to delay and mom left without aid. If your parents or partner are seniors don’t put them there it will be completely useless and...
Read moreGreat nursing staff, but family visits are terrible, you're not allowed to stay in the cool dining room to wait even with hot temperatures, they make u wait outside, then no more then 3 people per visit. I tried to schedule a group family visit since mom had two strokes, to cheer her up together since mon is all about family, for a whole week no response until the weekend came, then finally we were able to take her outside even then we weren't allowed to be together, so so stressful for the whole family since time was limited for all of us, part of the family couldn't even make it. Most of us couldn't give her the love and support because of the overwhelming rules there, family time means nothing to them and they treat you exactly like that. This hospital was all about family wellbeing, now it just a regular hospital were it's just another patient ,very said, all she wanted to do was to spend time with grandchildren and family and she couldn't so upsetting i couldn't even say bye properly cause we had to rush the time. Other things happened there too but i feel that was it for the...
Read moreI've been receiving outpatient care here for several months for physical and outpatient therapy. I am currently recovering from a dual stroke event suffered six months ago. The staff is very experienced and well trained with Neuro based patient care and treatment. The hospitals has all the latest rehab tools and therapeutic equipment. I have been able to use equipment not readily available at other facilities. The facility is always kept neat and clean, you'll never worry about catching a stray germ or virus. The lobby level has a nice cafeteria and gift shop which is a nice place for your family or friends to wait during your appointments. I have spoken with many other patients who have gone to other institutions and all of them tell me that Helen Hayes is the best place. Best of all, the staff all display a patient, friendly and caring approach which is well beyond what you would see at many other institutions. With the love and positive reinforcement I get during my therapy, I avoided the frustration and fear that can become a roadblock to my recovery and return to...
