Read moreToday, I ventured to La Piazza with my cousin for a leisurely lunch, and the experience was a mixed bag of flavors and textures.
To begin, we ordered a diverse spread from their menu - the classic chicken parmigiana, the roasted pecan salad with a twist (we added goat cheese :P) , and the intriguing rigatoni fiorentina.
The chicken parmigiana, a staple of Italian-American cuisine, was alright but not spectacular. It was adequately cooked, but regrettably, the texture leaned toward the chewy side. The sauce, while a crucial component of this dish, left me with mixed feelings. Its excessive sweetness might cater to some palates, but I found it veering a tad too far in that direction.
The rigatoni fiorentina, unfortunately, turned out to be a disappointment. The inclusion of chicken bits held promise, yet what we encountered in almost every bite was a troubling presence - a rather unpleasant, tough nerve that we had to spit into a napkin. This experience significantly marred an otherwise potentially flavorful dish.
Amidst these culinary ups and downs, the roasted pecan salad emerged as the shining star of the meal. Its delicate balance of textures and flavors, alongside the clever substitution of gorgonzola for goat cheese, delivered a refreshing and satisfying experience. The roasted pecans were absolutely DELICIOUS.
In sum, La Piazza provided a lunch experience that balanced on the edge of expectations. The promising elements such as the roasted pecan salad showcased the establishment's culinary potential. However, issues like the presence of unwelcome nerves in the rigatoni and the overly sweet sauce in the chicken parmigiana require a level of refinement to elevate the dining experience. While I'd still consider revisiting for the salad, a bit of fine-tuning in other dishes would make this restaurant a more compelling option for Italian cuisine...
Read moreThis place has been great every time I go there. I have gotten their paninis, heros, salads, and pizza. Prices are a bit high but very clear and worth the money. I would definitely recommend it. Update: I need to update my review. I went there the other day for gift cards. Wanted $200 worth. Had $170 cash and needed to pay $30 on credit card. I realized they charged me $37 on my cc because there is a 3.5% cc fee. They should have charged me $31.05. They said the machine has to charge the full amount as a credit purchase if you pay even partial credit. I guess it would have been really tough for them to make it into 2 separate orders. Bad customer service, and I got an attitude about it. I asked for my card to be refunded, and I would go get the cash. A few minutes later, I came back with the cash. Now the guy was having trouble with the machine and could not do my order on that computer. After about 5 or 10 minutes of waiting, I asked him if I could just get my money back because I had to go. He ignored me and walked away multiple times before saying he couldn't get the money out of that register. I had asked him if he could please just take it out of one of the other ones so I could go. He said he couldn't do that. He made me wait an additional 15 minutes before taking the money from a different register. So I spent in all about 45 minutes trying to get gift cards and left with nothing. I will forgive the restaurant because it is one of my favorite places. But I will leave if the guys in the front try...
