Lucky 4 Nail Spa — Local services in Town of Hempstead

Update: added a photo from my last gel x set which were clearly much sleeker and not Bulky which contradicts their argument on “that’s just how gel x is” have a nice day!

I’ve been coming here regularly for over a year. I got Gel-X the last two visits and i always get a spa pedicure, tip well, and have even referred friends. But this last visit was honestly disappointing and disrespectful.

Right away, I asked if the pedicure water could be warmer and got a sarcastic “what do you mean?” Like I was asking for something outrageous. Then, a few minutes into the pedicure, I realized I wasn’t happy with my nails. I politely asked if they could be shortened, made less bulky, and the design changed to just a clean French. The design didn’t look clean at all and just wanted to change it to be French like the 3 other nails (see picture) I wasn’t rude, and I didn’t come back days later demanding a refund, I asked literally five minutes after they were finished if they can correct them.

Instead of just adjusting them, she walked away and laughed with the rest of the nail techs. She said “they’re done there’s nothing we can do” “we’d have to start all over again” “that’s how gel X are shaped” . The last gel X set I got had a much flatter profile, so it felt like I was being gaslit. When I said I didn’t like how I was being treated and requested I downgrade my usual $60 spa pedicure to a regular because I felt uncomfortable, she said we already started the callus remover, which I said ok charge me for a regular pedicure and the callus remover.

I told them that I felt uncomfortable being laughed at, they said “Yeah, we laughed because why didn’t you say something while you were still in her chair?” As if I hadn’t just been in the chair five minutes earlier. I’m allowed to sit for a moment, look at my nails, and realize they’re not what I wanted. They were huge and bulky, and I just wanted something cleaner and more professional-looking.

When I said I’d rather just pay and leave, suddenly they offered to fix it — but only after dismissing me and making me feel like a joke. They aggressively suggested multiple times they’d fix it after I declined because they should have offered that before arguing and laughing at me, I said no thanks there are plenty of other nail salons that would appreciate my business and fix an expensive service so I’d be happy. Especially since in the year I’ve consistently gone, I never had an issue before. I still paid. I still tipped. But the way they handled it — laughing, deflecting, and patronizing me when I calmly voiced a concern — was enough to make me never...

I walked into Lucky 4 Nail Spa hoping for a relaxing experience, but what I encountered was incredibly disappointing and offensive. From the moment I entered, I noticed the staff speaking warmly and attentively to the white women already being serviced. In contrast, I was not greeted, and the energy toward me was cold, dismissive, and rushed.

Before even saying hello, they immediately started speaking in Mandarin while giving me uncomfortable looks, which felt exclusionary and unprofessional. I asked if they did acrylics and was told yes. After waiting nearly 10 minutes, they abruptly changed their response and told me no — wasting my time and making it clear I was not welcome.

I’ve been coming to this nail salon for a while now, and I can't recommend it enough! Vicky, the owner, is amazing—she’s not only incredibly skilled but also warm and welcoming, which makes every visit a great experience.
