Today’s was not the first experience I had here. Every other experience I’ve had here was pleasant but I suppose it’s thanks to me never having any issues at checkout until before. I came in to buy some more masks for my daughter for school. Upon arriving at the counter I realized I’d left my wallet at home. I tried my Apple Pay and was declined due to insufficient funds in my account. I’m sure I’m not the only person experiencing this during a global pandemic but you would have thought that I just announced to the store that I was a completely uncivilized vagrant at the change in mood at this point. The clerk (who before my payment was declined was sweet as pie talking to me about her family) now turned cold and annoyed and shouts across the counter “come void this. Idk she doesn’t have enough money”. When I finally managed to dig some coins out of my pocket she let out an audible sigh of annoyance. It was the single most humiliating experience of my life. I will NEVER be going back here. Shame on these people!!! This is a time for compassion! Not a single staff member here showed an ounce of it as I was struggling, hands shaking, to come up with the balance. I am a 62 yr old woman liviing in NHP for 34yrs.I have a home and a family I have been going to Raindew in Floral pk for most of those yrs. Probably 2 xs a wk. I know all the workers many by name.I was shoppng during the height of the coronavirus in april when one of the managers asked if I was finished paying , if I was sure I payed for everything. I was taken aback .I was wearing a sweatshirt with a front pouch. Which he asked me to empty. I was so humiliated and embarrased I have never been back. With the community opening up more I will be able to spread this terrible story of being accused of shoplifting.I am a respected and active citizen of this community.Raised a family here.
