Our son was a "student" at Tutor Time from age 6mo through 20mo. In that time, he has developed so much in so many different ways. We have to give a lot of that credit to the staff and the environment of Tutor Time.
Some pros: the camera was one of the main reasons we chose this Day Care over others. it did not disappoint. The app experience was great and the video was always available and worked smothly the staff. it truly is like a family. We knew all of the teachers well, and they knew us. Most importantly, they knew our son. Even teachers who were responsible for kids much older than our son knew his name and were always concerned with his well-being. It's also just a very warm place, and everyone there seems to like being there and like each other. that rubs off on the kids (and parents), too. Our son would give hugs to his teachers when he showed up, and even his old teachers that he moved on from. We are moving day cares due to convenience, and we will miss all of the teachers and staff tremendously. as mentioned in the intro, our son's development has been measurable. He is talking a ton (in advance of when he is supposed to be), and his comprehension of sentences and context is amazing to see. I could go on - but he definitely is getting mental and physical nurture at Tutor Time.
Some cons: there is an element of disorganization as it relates to rooms the kids are in, and which teacher they are with, and where all of our son's stuff would be at the end of any given day. there is quite a bit of "Switching around." however, we always thought this to be a product of having a big organization with teachers who are human and have lives and commitments etc. he was always in good care, and even if i had to search a bit, i always found his stuff. he would come home very messy sometimes. again - these are babies/kids. so i am not sure how preventable this is. but there were some days his clothes were essentially destroyed and his face - well - could have been cleaner.
The cons were small and surface level. the pros ran deep. Our son is better off for having been at Tutor Time and although we are leaving (we may be back!) we are grateful to the team there and will have very fond memories of our son's time there. I...
Read moreIt's been a month, so I decided to revisit my review.
Things started bad with people letting our baby cry himself to sleep and fall asleep face down. Not being watched, ignoring the schedule provided, overfeeding, not supporting the baby properly, leaving him to cry for an hour at the high chair, just moving him from one container to another (high chair to bouncer to crib), sending him home covered in food, ignoring the shoe cover rules, picking up pacifiers off the floor and putting it back in his mouth. They also lost his bib and one pacifier. We found the bib, but they tried to give us someone else's bib twice already.
He doesn't cry himself to sleep as much anymore, but I've noticed they either let him get overtired or they just ignore him in his crib. I watched another baby shove him down and the teacher eventually picked him up and put him in the crib. The crib seems to be the go-to if he's crying.
I watched one teacher lounging on the floor ignoring the babies until he fell over. Then she just put him back into a sitting position and walked away. After he cried too much, she put him in his crib and went back to her lounging position. Another teacher came in and they appeared to have an argument.
There isn't a lot of routine and stability there either. Some mornings he is in the other baby room. The teachers seem to rotate, but there is no set schedule to the rotations. They will let him go 5 hours without a nap and then have him only nap for 15 minutes. I've watched him so tired he fell asleep face down on the play mat for over 10 minutes before someone finally took him to a crib (this happened more than once). I watched an older baby hit him on the head with a toy and knock him over. Luckily a teacher picked him up pretty quickly.
He also comes home everyday with the diaper on way too tight. Sometimes the tabs overlap. He's developed diaper rash, which he never had before. We have so far caught a really bad virus and some sort of a cold in such a short amount of time.
The positives are that he eats way more solid food than he used to. I like that he is socializing and sleeping...
Read moreMy son attended Tutor time for a few years and when it came time to register for the fall 2020 they never informed me of registration and when he arrived to drop him off one Monday morning they told us the classes were full and that we had not registered him. I told them that there must be a mistake and they told me they would call me back. It is November and I have not heard back since September from them. Over $300 a week for tuition for multiple years and I can’t even get a return phone call. Very disappointing. Not only for me but for my 4 year old son who never got to say bye to his friends at school and was very upset that he would not be returning.
Update: my son is 9 now and is special needs. He still remembers...
