I realize that businesses are in business to make a profit, and the value of jewelry is subject to emotion by its owners, but behind the "sweet as sugar" routine played by the owner and his or her staff is a business that rips it, customers, off. My mother recently passed, and I was interested in selling a necklace to Devin Jewelers that they made by taking the diamond out her engagement ring and setting it in a necklace I purchased from them for $1600. They did an excellent job resetting the diamond, and the necklace looked beautiful. After waiting approximately two weeks and being told by Barbara that they wanted to keep the diamond "in house," I am surprised when I finally hear anything about the necklace that they are not interested in the necklace and more importantly put a retail value on the necklace of $2,500. I am not in any way qualified to access the value, but I found that value shocking because I paid the retail price of $1,600 for the necklace alone . The diamond is a center stone round brilliant-cut G-H color VVS quality approximate one carat stone of very high quality with discernible imperfections; Their value suggests that the diamond has a value of somewhere between $900 and $1500 depending on the value you put on the 14K necklace. Based on the fact that I already had another jeweler willing to purchase the necklace for $4,750, I can only conclude the Devin Jewelers is a dishonest brokers, and I would suggest customers go other nearby jewelers to make their purchase. I had a very personal relationship with the owner as well as the sales staff, but my tip is to buy your jewelry elsewhere. Their prices are inflated, and they operate on profit margins greater than 80%. If you purchased a necklace from them and returned it two weeks later, based on my prior experience with them, you would get at most 30% back. A pathetic showing for a "family business". As an update, the jeweler had this same review from YELP, a company that is bought and paid for by the companies they request you review. Clearly, the jeweler has...
Read moreBefore I begin this review, let me give a quick story. I bought a diamond and a setting elsewhere and all I needed was for somebody to set the diamond on the ring. I went to one jeweler in patchouge and he refused to set my diamond on my setting because he guaranteed the small diamonds on the prongs will fall out as he sets the diamond and also tried to sell me one of his rings and told me to return mine. He wouldnt work with me at all. At this point I was very upset and felt hopeless because I had this setting custom-made and engraved. This was my engagement ring so you can imagine the pressure I was going through.
Im so happy I found this place! First walking in, Tina introduced herself in a professional manner and was courteous. I Told her my story so she introduced me to Danny, the person that could set the diamond for me. After he looked at it he had told me he will absolutely make it work. I was so relieved and happy to hear this. Danny was respectful, professional and passionate. He completed my ring within a day and did an amazing job. I highly recommend Devin Jewelers Inc. The service was spectacular and smooth. Thank you again...
Read moreTwice in the past 6 months I have gone to Devin Jewelers to have pieces purchased elsewhere fixed. Both pieces were earrings. The first piece required some significant work. I left the piece and about 1 week later Devin called that the piece was fixed and at a very reasonable price. You could not tell that the piece had been broken and fixed. The second piece was brought in today. I expected to leave it but was surprised when the clerk brought the piece back out to me already fixed, no charge. I have been looking for a new jeweler ever since my long term go to jeweler passed away. It looks like I have found my new jeweler. The staff has been very kind and helpful. The service is outstanding. I recommend Devin Jewelers to anyone in the market for a new piece of jewelry or for...
