The food was delicious. I see a lot of people saying that the prices are too high for what you're getting, but I think they were reasonable. Between my wife and I, we had two entrees, three drinks, and shared a dessert. Our check was ~$120 without tip.
I was looking forward to having a beer with dinner, however, they're only options were a Mexican beer, a Mexican beer, a Mexican beer, or a non-alcoholic Mexican beer. I had to ask if they had any bourbon because the bar only displayed a vast selection of tequilas.
The most puzzling part of our experience had to do with the two TVs above the bar. The Kentucky Derby was moments away from starting when an employee changed the channel on one of the screens to Fox News. Anyone hoping to see the race from one side of the restaurant could then only watch two muted talking-heads discuss the economy.
Cable news does not belong in bars or restaurants - especially during the Kentucky Derby!
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. Our food came out hot and fresh less than ten minutes after we ordered.
We'll most likely return. Hopefully, they'll add a simple IPA to their beer menu...
Read moreI've been to Caracara a few times now, always sitting at the bar, and I'm consistently impressed. The bartender is incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure I have everything I need. On one visit, the owner even came over to chat and made us feel incredibly welcome, offering us a complimentary spicy margarita to try - a delicious surprise!
We happened to be there on a Monday and asked if they could put WWE on one of the TVs. They happily obliged, which really enhanced our experience. It's that kind of accommodating and friendly atmosphere that makes this place special.
Now, let's talk about the food! The Taco de Pescados are an absolute must-try. They're a perfect 5/5 in my book - bursting with flavor and freshness. And for dessert, the hazelnut brownie is simply divine, a top-class treat that perfectly caps off the meal.
I'm already planning my return visits - I can see myself coming here 2-3 times a month with family and friends. Caracara has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite local restaurants. If you're looking for delicious Mexican food, a welcoming atmosphere, and fantastic service, Caracara is the...
Read moreWife and I decided to try this spot during peak dinner time, but honestly, the empty restaurant should've been our first red flag. We figured we'd give it a shot, but sadly, the service was slow and definitely not up to par.
We ordered a mango margarita, carne asada, skillet chicken taco, and flan for dessert. The margarita was fine, nothing spectacular, but it was decent. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The carne asada was fatty and difficult to chew, and the skillet chicken taco was dry and lacked flavor—both were pretty disappointing. But the real letdown was the flan. It was hard, tasted like it had been sitting around too long, and was missing the berries it was supposed to come with. When we asked about it, the staff casually said they were out of berries and instead offered us two shots of pineapple-infused tequila. Now, that felt a little off. Rather than offering something to make up for the bad dessert, they decided to give us tequila they clearly wanted to get rid of.
The entire experience was a letdown, and unfortunately, we won’t be...
