Petco — Local services in Town of Irondequoit

The worst. I was bringing my dog for the first time so I was unsure of how he would react to the smells of so many other animals and just as we were getting out the car he caught a whiff of all the other dogs that frequent Petco and was overly excited I arrived about 10 min early for his appointment and he was so excited. I was trying to calm him down so we could go in but he was pulling me all over the parking lot. So I decided that I should put him back in my truck and go in and do whatever paperwork they had for me to do and show them the rabbies paperwork that they requested before bringing him in. The girl could clearly see me threw the window and see that I was I will admit struggling with my dog. (In hindsite I should have done a test run before our actual appointment). I get the dog in the truck and go in and was greeted with the worst attitude by the I'm assuming groomer. She acted as if she didn't want to groom the dog and it was an inconvenience to her that it was his first time. I tried to pay no attention to her attitude and continue to have the appointment. I told her my dog's name and explain again that it was his first time so he was overly excited. She then with this attitude says I have another dog coming in after this appointment so let's get this show on the road cause you have been in the parking lot for offer 10 min. I decided that it would be best not to get my dog groomed there based on my interaction with this person and we left because I will not spend my hard earned money somewhere that shows me they are so inconvenienced of doing there job. I would not recommend nor would I return to this store for any of there services because spending my money there would keep her employed there...

I booked an appointment for my puppy to have his shots that were due. When I arrived, I was never asked what services I was looking for or needed. I was immediately given the cost of the highest package including the most amount of shots and the most expensive flea/heart guard treatment. Again, I was not even asked if he was already on anything… she just kept on adding items/shots to the list and raising my total. Eventually, I intervened and I was able to figure out what my dog actually needed at that point in time… I am moving and have a lot of costs associated with that, so it was important to stay within a budget. Additionally, my dog is already protected with flea/tick medication as well as heart guard, so it’s not like I am neglecting him.

Besides that, I was absolutely gobsmacked by the veterinarian. I mentioned my puppy was having gas and was concerned, she asked what I had done and I mentioned I had tried switching his food but it didn’t seem to do anything. I asked if he possibly needed a prescription food, this vet literally looked at me with the rudest face imaginable, laughed and said “well that’s the definition of insanity isn’t it? Doing the same thing over again and expecting different results”

The look and tone of her voice left me speechless. I turned to my cousin to see if I was perhaps crazy or if I had actually just heard that. My cousins face more than confirmed my suspicions. Luckily, it was hot in the store, I was with my cousin and on a time crunch… otherwise, she would have definitely heard an earful, and that’s putting it...

I DoorDash on the side to make extra money. I had just went in to this store about fifteen minutes prior to writing this review. Maybe around 3:40ish. It was a pizza order for someone in the grooming salon named Jade. I normally never have problems with this store or anything like that. Also, I’m not one to throw people under the bus and try to get them in trouble, etc. But I was kind of shocked how the girl in the grooming salon acted upon me walking up to the door to hand her the food she had ordered. There was a dog she was with which I completely understand and I wasn’t going to just barge in. But she must have thought I was going to because she put her hand up super dramatically waving it around for me to stop and not enter. Normally I would not care, but it was just the way she went about it. It was extremely rude and unprofessional. Clearly she wanted me to wait until she was finished with the dog before handing her the food and I just do not get paid enough to stand around waiting for people. So, I set the food down outside the door and left. She should have noted on the app that she might be with a dog and set a designated place for me to set her food.
