Let me premise this with: I DO NOT eat international foods. I eat Puerto Rican food (bc it's the best) and traditional Americana and I guess what most would term "Italian." Why? Bc I know what I'm ordering and know what it's supposed to taste like. I've tried foreign foods before and they have almost always sucked (comparative to what I know and love). That being said...
I'm likely making this place a monthly stop. Here's why (and yes, the reasons are in order): Our waitress (Courtney) explained EVERYTHING to us! So we knew EXACTLY what to expect when we ordered our food bc she not only explained what it was, but how it would taste compared to a comparative American menu item, including the much more dense desserts. I don't think international food spots understand how amazing that is (or maybe that's just me).
They had samplers! My business partner and I were able to pick 3 different items we figured we would each like, so we had a total of 6 foods to taste test, plus 2 desserts. Gotta love a good sampler 🥰
Food was pretty damn good. Not amazing, not fair, but damn good. Order the smoked kielbasa (def get the mustard for sure), bigos and perogies and thank me later.
Opportunity to improve: they need to have Polish music playing for sure. I want the full effect! I will definitely come by for Dyngus Day tho 😁
All in all, I would give them a strong 7.6 rating, which easily blows away any other international restaurant I have tried so far, and for me that's a solid spot to be in. For context, the best Puerto Rican restaurant in Rochester got an 8.4 so this...
Read morePolska Chata is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic Polish cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re dining in a traditional Polish home.
The food is simply outstanding. The pierogi are perfectly handmade, with delicate, doughy exteriors and generously packed, flavorful fillings. The potato and cheese pierogi are especially delicious, served with a side of caramelized onions and sour cream. The kielbasa is smoky and well-seasoned, paired beautifully with tangy sauerkraut. And if you’re a fan of comfort food, the stuffed cabbage (golabki) is a must—tender, juicy, and rich in flavor.
What truly sets Polska Chata apart is the attention to detail in every dish, staying true to traditional Polish recipes while ensuring everything is fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is always friendly and accommodating.
Whether you’re Polish or just a lover of great food, Polska Chata is a place you’ll want to visit again and again....
Read morePolska Chata is one of those places I kept reminding myself to try over the years, but never did until just recently, and that has been my loss! On a recent Friday evening I visited this charming Polish restaurant/deli, and chose the fish fry combo #2, which has fish, butterflied fried shrimp, fires, coleslaw, and pierogies, and all for $19.00. Both the fish, and shrimp (each breaded, not battered) were crispy, and flavorful, and the pierogies were a really nice addition to an otherwise all fried meal (although you can get those fried as well.) I stopped in earlier than my order would be ready, so that I could look around the retail area of the restaurant, which has a variety of home made, and packaged products found in Eastern Europe, including latkes, kielbasa, desserts, and other traditional foods. I ended up buying a couple different kinds of kielbasa, and a few other items, and loved each one. At a time when I am a bit more careful about my dining out budget, Polska Chata is now high on my list of restaurants where the food, and customer service is...
