Just had a terrible experience here. Apparently this store, which admittedly has a fantastic selection of kids toys, has a deep distrust and potential dislike of children.
We just drove almost 30 minutes to go here, the fulfillment of a request one of my sons has been making for over a week. It's always been one of his favorite destinations to buy Legos. We've visited and spent money there multiple times.
As he was in the middle of buying $60 worth of stuff (using a credit card in his name), the staff accused him of potentially stealing a $7 item and threatened to call the police.
As best I can tell, when the boys were browsing they had a handful of items, and potentially put one back in the wrong place. It seems they were being monitored from the start, and when they came to the counter, the discrepancy in quantity was assumed to have been an indicator of theft.
Now to be fair, I got this story secondhand from a 14 year old and 12 year old - so the specific circumstances, timeline, and facts are suspect. When I subsequently confronted the owner, his account of what went down was equally unclear and suspect.
But at the end of the day - two children, who were in the middle of buying a bunch of things with a credit card - were threatened and accused of something they didn't do, with no hard evidence. No benefit of the doubt. No questions. No accounting for the fact that children might not be the most articulate or confident in the face of adults coming at them. And no sense of regret or contrition when I (relatively calmly) confronted the situation. We always strive to support local business, but this one has lost us...
Read moreAbleist. My friend came in an electric wheelchair and went down an isle. The isle was so small he couldnât turn at the end of an isle so he had to back up out from that isle. He ended up knocking down the newspapers on accident unintentionally and then attempted to pick them up by himself. The lady working there was rude and did not help move things to get him out of the island. She also scoffed at him after he knocked over the newspapers. Tried apologizing but she completely ignored us. The owner at the cash register told him not to go in the isles because of his wheelchair. How is he suppose to shop when heâs not allowed in the isles lol. The owner is rude and ableist and probably wonât like to have any customers that are disabled. Donât bother coming here. I also bought a pack of camel crush cigarettes and the dude working at the registered tried charging me 18.00 $ for one single pack of camel crush! Thatâs more than 3 times of what it usually costs! This shop needs to get their stuff together, their prices, customer service and accommodation. I DO NOT recommend this store at all. If youâre looking for tabaco they sell cigarettes at the local Walgreens. Itâll...
Read moreThe prices are terrible and the service is worse. Think twice before shopping here. Or just avoid them entirely.
I think the intention by the store, upon reflection, is to charge high prices, and for customers that purchase, they then play âgotchaâ with their no returns policy. This is a terrible way to run a business, sacrificing long term customer loyalty and trust for short term gains from price gouging. I am surprised that they have been in business for as long as they have, especially considering some of the other reviews here and elsewhere.
The Facts: We purchased a lego for my daughter a few days ago and had to return it, unopened. When we brought it in the store clerk was extremely rude and they refused to take the return, either for cash or for credit. They cited store policy that all sales are final.
To add insult to injury, it turns out the item was extremely badly priced. The lego cost 110 on Amazon and the store was charging 200. I bear some responsibility for not catching this price disparity at the point of sale.
I love supporting local businesses, but I will never...
