Buyer beware… I recommend inspecting your purchase prior to leaving the store because once you leave and you identify something wrong with the product (biohazard material found in bag) you will be accused by the young gentleman behind the counter that you put it there.

I made a purchase of 1 Vera Bradley Bag and multiple nicknacks last evening. Once I arrived home I took out the Vera Bradley bag and was about to begin swapping my personal items into it when I noticed a dried bloody piece of gauze in the bottom of the bag. On further inspection it appeared as though this bag was a return placed back on the shelf as it was missing the original Vera tag.

Today, 10/15, I brought the bag back to the store to return it as it’s been contaminated with someone else’s blood, which is potentially hazardous. I was accused multiple times by the young man behind the counter that I placed that item in the bag myself, which was very offensive. In addition, he informed me he didn’t have to accept the return due to the bag being clearance. He informed me he was doing me a favor by returning the bag.

I had been looking forward to visiting this locally owned store, but my experience was intolerable. I came in after a run, dressed in workout clothes and a hat, and was immediately made to feel profiled. I was followed—never greeted—and the employees hovered over me the entire time, while other customers were left alone. At first, I thought maybe I was overthinking—until I made eye contact with two employees who were clearly watching me and whispering to each other in a way that was anything but welcoming. I understand this store may typically attract an older crowd, but that doesn’t mean younger customers should be made to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable. As a young small business owner myself, I make EVERY effort to support local shops rather than ordering online. Being treated this way was not only extremely uncomfortable but completely unprofessional. First off let me start by saying, be ready to get lost in this place because it is AMAZING. You’ll want everything. Great prices. The owner is so nice I met her last time I was in, she was wearing a blue gemmed mask ( clearly cares about safety!) but she was so nice. If you like Hallmark type stores, this is where you want to go. Gifts are easily picked with varieties. From Jewelry, Cards, Decor to CBD oil and more! I ended up buying these three beautiful bracelets that are called Wind and Earth I believe! Similar to Alex and Annie, but a WAY better price and some are 50% off and just as beautiful.
