Highfeild Gardens Care Center ; the Facility that Truly cares !
A dearly beloved relative of mine was in a coma and Highfield Gardens along with God’s Healing Hands miraculously turned his future around and he walked out with a walker ! Where do I begin!
We all love and care for our family and friends but if they ever end up in a situation in need of a skilled nursing facility near Great Neck , New York you would want them at Highfield Gardens care center! The overwhelming amount of emotions come over you wanting to do more for your loved one; No facility is perfect ; but they truly strive for the title of perfection and THAT’S what I value!.
We are humans whom all have our own personal lives , but when you arrive at Highfield the staff truly try to leave their issues at the door!
They helped me to rest assure that my relative would be cared for ! Dr Matin ; one of the many examples ; my relatives regular physician Dr. Shirvani wasn’t in and she was still able to fill me in on pertinent details . And let’s not forget Dr Shirvani ; when I finally met him I received prompt calls from Voicemails I’ve left , along with followup call post discharge. When I had concerns or emailed about something, if there is anything more to be said about my greatful experience; I appreciate how Mr. Motechin Director of the Facility takes over and rectifies All! I truly admire him paying attention to the details , Mr. Motechin just makes it better ! And believe you me when it comes to discharge and switching facilities and medication …. Everyone needs a Mr. Motechin!!! Deep Gratitude.
The Director of Nursing I. Israilov Is willing to email , schedule time to have a meeting to speak with you, she expeditiously returns phone calls ( and ps. I live in a different time zone .) Her dedication is undoubtably seen.
There are so many more special individuals there like Danny the CNA whom I’ve met on few occasions and every time greeted with a smile . And OMG receptionist MALISHA !!, she is the first line of communication and represents your facility VERY WELL , a true gem EVERYTIME I phoned in when I needed to find out what was happening , etc ; and then when I finally met her in person it was like meeting a relative I wished to spend more time with ! . Then theirs Stacy another receptionist with a beautiful smile and lovely personality ; and she has the calming lemongrass aromas for positive mental health as you enter the building at check in .
M. Rodriguez who runs the finance department; although bills are never an easy discussion she is empathetic and passionate about her role , so patient and helpful .
My relative ( uncle ) mentioned his personal gratitude for Carine D. whom was in charge of his physical therapy. Round of applause to Nurse Supervisor Andre , motivating those in emotional and physical pain cannot be easy inclusive of creating treatment plans . Bravo to you and the team that surround you !
And then , you have the social workers Donna T. And Fouzia who are working diligently ; although extremely busy .. they give you all their contact info and tell you exactly how to contact them .
Then there was John the therapist who was very kind as well along with the pleasant sweet voice of the Operations Director Christine B . I can still see and hear everyone’s smiles and laughters and tears on discharge day !
I appreciated the continuous efforts ; So I wanted to just acknowledge the facility as a whole . THANKYOU , for a better future for my relative who has been recently discharged . Many Blessings and prosperity to the longevity of...
Read moreMy parents have been residents since October a long stay not anticipated not because of the lack of care but medical issues that needed to be addressed in a hospital setting. I strongly recommend this rehab for anyone looking for a family member. Let me begin with the reception desk, Lillian. I would see Lillian every weekend and always greeted me with a smile and would ask about my parents' well-being. It's always nice to begin a visit with a warm reception. The Clerk Melisha who would float to the First floor is an absolute Angel. She worked out of her job role over and beyond. Melisha knows the patients by name and would look after my parents. My Mom always needed her 2 coffees at meal time and my Dad liked a piece of chocolate here and there and she always found the time to make her visit when possible. She made me feel at peace that my parents were being well cared for. Her visits meant so much to my parents. and to me The Nursing CARE Exceptional! Ms. Marnie and Ms. Pam the definition of what every Nurse should encompass, Professional and truly caring. The Nursing Assistants and Orderlies are exceptional! Inez was my Mothers' personal favorite. She was the first Assistant we met. Inez has a sweet and genuine caring disposition. Marie and Nellie so sweet too. These Assistants are never not working. I never saw any of the Nursing staff sit. The staff is dedicated and hard working. Daniel an Soon actually kept my Dad in a good head space. It was comforting to my Dad to have these two hard working men to take care of his daily needs and never to feel embarrassed. Danny and Soon made my Dad laugh and he truly loved having them take such good care of him. Danny always kept my Dad clean shaven and the family never requested it. Danny did it from his generous heart. Chantal in recreation made my Dad a lover of Bingo. Chantal would remind my Dad of the times and he made it a point not to miss it. She made it so fun for the residents. She enjoys what she does and therefore makes it enjoyable for the residents. The Dietary staff really try to make the residents happy with the food. The baked Chicken was my Mom's favorite. The staff would also give out snacks during the day for the residents to enjoy. The Highfield Gardens are very lucky to have caring, hard working and compassionate staff working for them. My parents have unfortunately had to visit three other facilities and they fail in comparison to Highfield Gardens. I feel fortunate to have found this facility. Thank you to everyone who cared for my parents! Jacqueline Curreri Michael in Physical Therapy is a Gem! He always found time to speak to my parents about their progress and always sprinkled a little humor in too. I have nothing but praise for this facility. It may not be aesthetically pleasing like other facilities with the Floral Wallpaper ,but I never would transfer them because of the wonderful care my both...
Read moreWe had an absolutely horrible experience with Highfield Gardens for Rehab Services from April - May 2021.
My father had a stroke and needed speech, occupational, and physical therapy. While in the hospital, we decided to send him to Highfield Gardens because it was close to the hospital and home, but mainly because they told us that visitation was allowed (we wanted to ensure visitation was allowed because my father cannot communicate verbally or physically and depends on us heavily for physical and mental support).
The night he was discharged from the hospital and transferred we called to find out how the transfer went and to check on how he was doing (he arrived around 9pm). It took over an hour to speak to someone, we called at least 4 times and each time we reception would just forward us to his floor, were we waited on hold for 20 minutes at a time (no one answered a ringing phone for about an hour which likely means no one was actually on the floor and after the second time we asked to speak to a supervisor). Only after finally calling reception for the 5th time and telling them we would come there immediately to take him home did they get a supervisor on the phone.
The day after, we were told that visitation was not allowed even though the hospital social worker confirmed with the facility that it was allowed. After a week of back and forth with the staff at Highfield Gardens and several social workers (and telling them we would have him transferred to another facility) did someone finally tell us that we were allowed to have visits with him, but that they had to be organized in advance with their social worker as a compassion visit.
The nurses and therapists were nice enough but it was hard to tell what kind of care he received since we could not see his room. When we visited, he was usually in someone else's clothing and had dry food leftover around his mouth and face and the lack of visitation for a week left him feeling depressed. The center is definitely not "state of the art" either but seemed fine.
He was discharged after a few weeks because he was deemed "that his health has improved sufficiently that he is no longer in need of services provided by the facility" though we believe that he didn't receive enough services to even determine that. His discharge paperwork has almost no information on it and was barely even filled out except for his name and some basic info.
The social worker (Kameca) assigned to my father took days to return phone calls. He’s been discharged already for 4 weeks and she was supposed set him up with home therapy and home nursing services but she referred us to places that do not take our insurance and the last 2 weeks has stopped returning our calls to help set this up.
Avoid this place if you care about communication and...
