I have been a medical doctor for almost 5 decades who developed serious orthopedic shoulder issues, after 30 years of almost daily tennis with weightlifting to help improve my tennis. I had 3 rotator cuff surgeries about 20 years ago, and extensive wrist surgery with transplantation of some small bones about 9 years ago. I was able to restart tennis again but only for a limited time as my right arm and shoulder were progressively worsening. I had 2 stem cell surgeries after taking stem cells out of my hip and growing them in the Cayman Islands to then replace them in my arm and shoulder to rebuild it. All of these surgical procedures were done by nationally or internationally renown physicians at the top of their field. After all of that, I had more shoulder movement and less pain, But I still had significant pain and very limited movement of my shoulder, so tennis was still out of the question. I was advised to go for a reverse shoulder replacement which I rejected. I havenât been able get back on a tennis court in over 5 years. Not one to ever give upon my dream, I started looking for different PTs and massage therapists who could help me, but without much success. And then almost miraculously, I met Yasmin Hassim.
Yasmin Hassim is like no other deep tissue massage therapist or hands that I have ever met in all of my years in medicine. As a scientist, I donât believe in magic, but what Yasmin accomplishes each session is magical. She works on different parts of my body that donât seem to be connected to my right arm and shoulder, but it always seems to improve my arm, shoulder and general body function. I trust her implicitly.
By manipulation with only her hands, she has already made a dramatic difference. Even with her long professional work history, she still pursues an intensive education degree in osteopathic manipulation on a regular basis to keep learning even more and become even better able to help patients. I see her weekly and I have already recently been back on the tennis court rallying, but not yet able to serve or hit an overhead. I think hitting tennis balls with no pain good range of motion is amazing after so many medical problems. My only regret is that I wish I had met her years earlier.
Finally, I am now extremely optimistic about tennis again and I hope to soon be back playing competitive matches without any limitation. I feel that anyone with pain, any orthopedic issue, and a long list of other medical conditions including tinnitus and neuro conditions should see her in consultation.

Read moreI first came across Yasmin when I was searching for a therapist to help me with stiffness in my ankle from surgery that could not be further helped by traditional PT. I had used rolfing for back and foot issues, which was a great help, but my rolfer had closed his office and I could not find another close to where I live, so I found Yasmin through an Internet search. She started working on the foot but immediately discovered issues with my posture, likely from my years working at a desk job. She worked for many weeks on my back and slowly but surely my posture improved. This also resulted in an improvement in my stride as one foot was always turned to the side when walking. Her treatment also improved circulation throughout the body. In the winter, my fingers and heals would become terribly chapped and cracked. This year, even though very cold, I had none of that. She told me this was a result of the improved circulation after treatment. Yasmin also gave me recommendations on hydration to maintain good health. She also greatly improved the condition of my foot, reducing swelling and stiffness significantly. I highly recommend Yasmin for help with problems that traditional medicine does not have a solution for. Just one word of caution for the impatient. This process does not happen overnight, so it may take many months to complete treatment. If Yasmin tells you she needs to work on an area of your that you do not feel needs work, trust her, she knows what she is doing. I did and I can attest to the success I had with her methods. Yasmin is a knowledgeable (read her CV on her website) and caring professional who will do her...
Read moreIâve held off writing my review of Yasminâs services as I am definitely not a âone and doneâ patient. Although I felt immediate benefit after my first session with Yasmin, I knew that I was engaging in an overall process to realign my entire body, become lastingly pain free, and to have this therapy work in concert with ongoing training with my new exercise physiologist. I suffered from significant back and shoulder discomfort brought on by years and years of sitting in front of a computer screen by day and some very strenuous physical activities at times including racquetball, ice hockey and cyclingâ with no way of equipping my body to deal with it all. To top it off, throw in recovery from minor surgery in the spring.
I canât say enough about Yasmin and her entire approach. We both agreed that there would be ups and downs in terms of how I was feeling during the journey (there have been), but that I would feel incrementally better in a lasting way after each session (I have). She combines an incredible knowledge of the musculoskeletal and fascial systems with very practical approaches to not just alleviating the pain but finding itâs true root cause. She performs her treatments with full disclosure of what sheâs finding, the approach she is using, and what I can do on my own to promote further progress.
As another reviewer said â MRT is not a âletâs have a âspa dayâ massageâ. Itâs tough, it hurts (during the sessionânot afterwards), but the results last and progress is measurable. Oh, and when you arrive at her office, youâre her patient at that time. Nobody is in line ahead of you. You are her total focus. I canât recommend...
