We ordered a cake for grandson's christening. The cake was beautiful and tasted great however my grandson's name was misspelled.

When I picked up the cake the day of the event, it was already in the box. The writing was on the side so I couldn't fully see it. Since this was the 2nd cake I ordered in less than a year, I trusted it was perfect. It wasn't! When I called the bakery the next day to report the issue, I was told "you signed for it and should have checked before the cake was put in the box." When I told the manager the cake was already in the box when the clerk brought it out, he said, "Tough luck. It was still my fault for not thoroughly checking the writing was correct." The absolute worst customer service experience on the planet but I was willing to take the blame for their mistake.

My husband would not let it go so he called the Floral Park store the next day to speak with the Manager. Turns out the Manager's Supervisor answered the phone. Christina apologized and agreed the situation was completely unacceptable. She couldnt have been nicer and even offered my husband a $20 gift certificate which was more than generous. We were not looking for a $150 refund for the cake. We weren't even looking for a gift certificate. We just wanted a kind apology which Christina delivered and then some. Here's the kicker - when my husband went to Floral Park today he was told Christina no longer works there and no one knows anything about a $20 gift certificate. When he explained the situation, he was again told it was completely our fault and we should have checked the writing BEFORE the cake was put in the box! You can't make this stuff up!

Well, that was the icing on the cake which prompted me to write this review. Moral of the story - Don't take anyone's word for it. Always check the cake before signing for it and be sure to ask the snippy clerk to take the cake out of the box no matter how big or heavy it is. For me, I'll be finding a new bakery to take...

Buttercooky is your average bakery. Please do NOT give them your birthday cake or wedding cake orders to only be disappointed later.

I ordered a birthday cake ( Swan cake) for my daughter’s birthday and these guys were given a picture along with the order I placed, and I told them it has to be done exactly as the picture. They said it will be expensive and I said if you make it exactly as the picture, I’ll pay the price. By the way, I have always provided pictures for all my daughter’s cakes so it can come out as expected. I’ve ordered cakes for the last 7 years. And I always specify if a picture is just an inspiration or if I want it exactly as the picture I’ve provided. I am specific with all my orders.

On the day of pickup with 2 hours left for the party to start, they bring out the cake and they didn’t get it right. The neck of the swan was supposed to look like an ‘S’ and instead it looked like an inverted J. There were no lashes on the swan too. I complained saying you guys charged an astronomical price for this cake and delivery was sub par. The first lady I complained to then says we can draw the lashes but the ink might spread; there was already gray stuff all over the neck of the Swan which made it look like they don’t do a neat work, and she says it was gold glitter. She obviously sees I was unhappy and then leaves me there and walks over to make more coffee. And asks another lady to address my situation. The second lady stands there and looks at my order and agrees mistakes were made and asks if I can come back and I said I don’t have time. Party is starting in less than 2 hours. Didn’t offer for a manager to speak with me. Again terrible customer service. They think they have too many customers anyway so what’s one upset customer. It was Super Bowl weekend so their thought process is let’s move on to the “next customer”.
