Schout Bay Tavern — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

The food is delicious, and their cocktails amazing. My wife and I find ourselves their every other weekend because it is exactly the right vibe for a delicious dinner and drink(s) date night in Nassau. We love the tavern steak with chimichurri, the shrimp dish will have you dunking your bread in the sauce, same goes for the pot of mussels. They have new specials each week, so there's always something fresh to try. And if you're looking for a delicious, memorable burger get their burger with all the fixins (gotta get the egg!). It is unreal. For sides, the brussel sprouts, the kung pao broccoli, the mac and cheese, and the blistered shishito peppers are all awesome. The schout bay tavern is fantastic. Even on the rainy day that I went it was packed. However despite how busy it was it only took about 10 minutes for them to find seats for myself and one other. Service was great with kind and speedy wait staff. The food itself was also extremely well prepared. I had gotten the salmon and brussel sprouts and my friend got the steak. Everything was very flavorful, well seasoned, and well cooked. Portion sizes were on the smaller side but not unreasonable. You can tell that the ingredients used were fresh and of high quality. We left feeling full but without an egregious hole in our wallets. I would definitely recommend for a date, or get together...

The food was average. Not enough seasoning on anything, including the flat bread, the burrata, etc. Everything was bland, boring. The fish (halibut) was cold, etc. The service was decent but no one checked on our table at any point of the dinner. It seemed like most of the workers were busy socializing with guests. We had to flag down the waiter numerous times. It’s akin to a dive bar imo with better food options. It was actually crowded to their credit but filled with football or lacrosse coaches who were loud. This certainly isn’t the place to bring a date and is somewhat misplaced being in Manhasset.
