I came to Somos with very low expectations of having my project accepted. After having been disappointed by a private local jeweler who failed to accomplish my vision, I felt some concern that Somos would just turn me down.

Perhaps my intent was not perfectly common: I had an extremely rare stone pendant with a cheap bail that devalued the stones presentation. I wanted a simple replacement designed that could honor + highlight the stone.

Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by Marie, the owner + business namesake (I didn't know this till later). She listened politely to what I was hoping to do. Then she asked questions. Smart ones.

It became clear to me that Marie was not brushing me off. She pulled out a paper + pen, then we sketched some alternative options. She took REAL time to establish a full understanding.

Not only that, she committed creative attention, explaining what would + would not work based on her (lifetime!) experience.

In the end, we came up with a simple "loop bale" in a coating that would not distract from the stone.

She also helped me to select a nice chain that was matched to the new bale + stone. Fast forward barely more than one short week + the phone rings: my new pendant is ready + waiting! Seeing it for the first time, I could hardly contain my excitement.

Marie + her team had not only met, but EXCEEDED the vision I'd held in my mind from the start. I could NOT have been more relieved (or impressed!).

Immediately, I left her with a second pendant in the same material so I could have it match the other. Both pendants are now complete. This whole experience could not have been more impressive to me (from the start!). I will so proudly wear each of these pendants, with gratitude for Marie's kindness.

I have already begun sending friends to Somos, and intend to continue to do so. Marie has my highest possible recommendation.

I would like to thank Marie at Sonos Jewelry in Nyack, for doing an outstanding job in assisting me in getting a beautiful custom ring made. While visiting the shop we first spoke about the possibility of designing several items of jewelry and Marie suggested that I bring in gold jewelry pieces that I already own, but do not like or use, she would buy this gold from me and credit the money to the cost of the item I would be creating. Once I focused on the jewelry I had collected over the years, there was plenty of items that I no longer wore and was glad to sell, and in turn it allowed me to spend more on my project. We worked together during a number of months due to my busy schedule, Marie was always so patient and honest in her willingness to make sure I got what I truly wanted, she played a key role in helping me narrow down my choices. I finally decided to redesign a gold ring base which I had lost the stone to, and Marie helped me transform it into a gorgeous ring with an oversized tourmaline stone, a design I had admired in the past and now I truly enjoy! I cannot say enough good things about Somos. Marie, the owner, is absolutely wonderful. My family and I have purchased all our “big” pieces from Somos (such as engagement rings and custom wedding bands), as well as anniversary and birthday gifts (like earrings, necklaces and rings and trendy costume jewelery). We always stop in for a good cleaning and polishing of our jewelery too and any broken jewelery has been quickly fixed.
